Chapter 10

"Dan!" Dan heard someone shouting his name and his eyes flickered opened. He was staring at Chandler who seems worried and agitated. "Dan.."Chandler heaved a sigh of relief.

"Where am I? What happened?" Dan asked confused.

Chandler stood up but before he could say a word, someone interrupted him, "Chandler! So here you are! I was looking for you everywhere!" Liz almost shouted and walked towards him and she stumbled backwards when she saw Dan. "Dan!?" She gasped.

Liz glanced at Chandler who shook his head and Chandler gave a sigh and told Dan sadly, "Dan..just now, you were bitten by a vampire and..you should know what happens."

Dan just sat there staring into space with blank eyes and he whispered, "I'm a vampire now..Rafe hates me.."

Rafe has always hate vampires and no one have ever known the reason.

Dan felt someone's hand touched his shoulder and he looked up to see that the person is Liz. She squeezed Dan's shoulder to comfort him and said, "Don't worry..Rafe won't hate you..he doesn't hate you."

"He will..once he knows I'm a vampire..remember that time when we brought a vampire to the dormitory...he wanted us to kill it. That's how much he hates vampire. That's how much he will hate me if I go back," Dan's voice broke.

"What if we keep it from Rafe?.. If we don't tell him..." Chandler suggested but he broke off after Liz glared at him, "Okay..okay..bad idea.."

Dan sighed and stood up, "Let's go..the others must be worried about us.."

"Dan! You are a vampire? That's so cool!" Ty exclaimed and was elbowed by Liz as she glared at him in anger. Ty rolled his eyes but kept slient.

Dan sighed and replied, "Cool? Wait till Rafe hears this."

"Why?" Lewis asked a bit curious.

"Rafe hates vampires," Dan replied flatly.

Lewis looked surprised at the answer that Dan said so simply and expressionless.

"Oh.." Lewis stated not really knowing what to say and he just stood there awkward and unnatural. Liz moved towards Lewis and said, "Well..I guess we should go, Landon?"

Landon drew out his enchanted sword and created a portal back to the dormitory.

The demon slayers were walking towards Rafe's study slowly and uncertain which was quite rare as they were usually confident.

"Okay..why don't I go and tell Rafe? Since all of you are just standing there..not intending to do anything." Lewis volunteered himself and said with sarcasm.

Dan raised his eyebrows in surprise, "You?.. Haha, not funny."

Lewis rolled his eyes and opened hid mouth but Liz beat him to it saying, "Thanks Chris," and she leaned in closer and whispered, "You're the best!"

Looking at this, Dan felt a tinge of jealously build inside him and he shuffled to the side clearing his throat and Liz immediately pulled away from Lewis and said hastily, "Umm..why don't me Lewis and Dan go and the rest of you go back and rest first?"

Lewis grinned in amusement. Apparently, Lewis thinks everything is funny..always grinning and laughing, Dan thought.

Ty and Landon gave Liz a thumbs-up but Chandler looked at Dan meaningfully and Dan nodded slightly 'telling' Chandler that it's okay.

"So..Rafe, as you could already tell,we had a kind of little accident when we were fighting the vampires and Dan got bitten." Lewis explained with little hesitations.

Dan could see that Rafe is angry and he is trying to control his temper and not scream at Dan but Rafe's whole face is red.

"Rafe, please..trust me, don't kick me out or kill me.." Dan almost pleaded.

Rafe took a deep breath and replied, "Have you ever heard of a demon slayer that is a vampire? Do you-" he stopped half-way and left that sentence hanging in the air.

"Not really, but you can make exceptions..I promise, I swear..I will control myself." Dan said even though he wasn't sure if he could do that.

Rafe stood there staring into space as if deep in thought, finally, he turned around and said, "Fine..if you break the promise, you will be kicked out of this dormitory and never return..you will be banished as a demon slayer."

"Thank you Rafe!" Dan sighed in relief at the same time as Liz and Lewis saying, "Thanks Rafe!"

Lewis shared a smile with Liz at the same time when Dan looked over at Liz with a huge smile but he quickly turned away and watched them from the corner of his eye. Dan felt jealous again.

Liz and Lewis walked out of the room with their shoulders touching and Dan realised that they are dating. Damm it! I should have guessed. Dan mentally cursed himself for not realising. He felt angry and at the same time, sad well because Dan was pretty sure Lewis was just toying with Liz feelings and he did not even her but sad because Dan had liked Liz for like two years and now, she is with Lewis. Dan suddenly snapped back and saw Rafe staring at him and he muttered "Sorry" before hurrying out.

"Thanks for helping Dan just now, I know it's hard but you still-" Liz stopped and looked up at Lewis stared down at her with his sparkling blue eyes.

"It wasn't his fault and I had to help him." Lewis replied after a moment of hesitation, "You tired? Or should we?.." a wicked grin crossed his face as he waited for Liz's answer.

Liz rolled her eyes but replied grinning, "Chris?..are we actually..dating?Like-"

"Like hell yea!" Lewis interrupted and said a bit excited.

Lewis wasn't entirely lying when he said that. Lewis could feel something for Liz over the last few days and he wasn't really sure why. Maybe it's the way she smiles or the way she talks?.. Lewis couldn't tell.

Liz have a shy smile, "I'm not really that tired-" She gave a side-way glance to Lewis who smiled widely and has a wicked grin on his face.

"Then-" Lewis stopped mid-sentence and put an arm around Liz and walked down the hallway and into Liz's room.

Dan watched them walk into the room from around the corner with anger building in his heart. They are really dating...and Lewis does not seems to be lying.

Dan suddenly felt faint and dizzy and he held on to the wall for support. He suddenly felt weak and...well, thirsty. He looked down to the floor and saw a blood dripping down, he realised in alarm that it was his lips bleeding and his fangs were out and he did not know how to make them go back. He looked around and could smell blood everywhere and he was going crazy! He stumbled and walked unsteady to get out of the dormitory quickly.

"Dan!! What's wrong-" Chandler saw Dan and asked in concern and walked towards Dan.

Dan pushed Chandler away to prevent him from coming nearer and he meant to push him lightly but because of his vampire strength, Chandler crashed into the wall at the other end of the hallway and into a shelf of glass carvings. Dan know he should go and check on Chandler but he was pretty sure he could not resist the temptation so he took this chance and escape. A sweet scent of Chandler's blood flowed into Dan's body, his head snapped and turned and looked at Chandler and Dan's eyes looked down at the blood flowing down Chandler's leg and arms. The sweet scent of Chandler's blood was too hard to resist and Dan ran to Chandler with his fangs out and ready to attack.
