Finally the weekend came along. I felt like I've been going to school everyday with no break. I was still in bed as the clock just turned to 1:00 p.m. Yep, this is nice. I was about to take a nap until my phone, that was on my stomach, vibrated. The sudden shock made me jump off the bed.
"Ow..." I mumbled as i rubbed the back of my head. With my other hand I grabbed the phone to look to see who was calling me. "DAD?!" I said while shooting up on my feet. I quickly pressed the answer button.
"Dad? Is it really you?" I said. I heard my dad chuckle slightly. "Yes it's me, Alane. How are you?"
I don't know why, but I felt so nervous talking to him. Im acting like I haven't seen him in years. I need to get myself together!
"oh uh, I've been great!" I said, "How's your side mission been going?"
There was a short pause like he was thinking for a right answer.
"It's going slow. Yeah...really slow...but I got a lead that I can't say since I don't know if it's related or not....im sorry I can't be with you and your mother right now...I hope you understand why I'm away a lot."
My heart felt like it broke. He sounded so tired and sad, that you can't stay mad at that person.
"I can't stay mad at you dad! I fully support your side mission! I mean, I'll wonder from time to time when you'll come home, but I still support you!"
There was another pause, just a bit shorter.
"Thank you Alane" my dad said "you have no idea how much your words mean to me."
~Later~
I was walking outside to buy some groceries for my mom. Walking in the nearest store I grabbed a cart and headed towards the produce section.
After a while of shopping I was walking back home. The ground shook a little but then it stopped, so I paid no attention to it. But a few moments later it shook so hard that I fell on the ground.
The building next to me window's shattered and pieces of glass started to fall towards me. I quickly curled up in fetal position and put my hands over my head and shut my eyes.
I felt pieces of glass bounce off my hands and body very fast. A few seconds passed and I slowly opened my eyes and took my hands off my head. Above my shadow was another shadow of a person.
I slowly turned my head to where the shadow was coming from. I felt my whole body freeze and my eyes widening from what I was seeing.
I felt the back of my hair shoot up, and I grabbed my grocery bag and started sprinting down the street. At a time like this I really wish I had a hero license!
There was a loud shriek behind me that caused the ground to shake again, making me fall forwards again. Is her quick voice like Present Mic?
She then jumps high in the air towards me and I see her take a knife out. I try to get on my feet but I can't move. Did her scream make me immobile?! She was only a few feet away and I couldn't think at all. All I did was shut my eyes as hard as I could.
"Alane!!" I heard a familiar voice yell. I shoot my eyes open and see my mom kicking the woman on her side in mid-air. The woman crashed through a random car. "Mom! Her quirk makes you paralyzed if you get caught in her vibration circles when she yells!"
My mother quickly picked me up and put me in an alley. "When you are able to move again run as fast as you can. Do you understand me?" I felt my heart drop. "What?! Mom no! I'm not leaving you!"
My mother's face turned very stern and serious. "You can't use your quirk without a license. You would be an easy target for her. And I am your mother! You will do what I say! Understand?!" I caught my breath. She's never yelled at me before. I bit my lips "yes mother..." I said quietly.
I then felt her give me a tight squeeze. "Everything will be fine. Don't worry." She then got up and headed back out to the streets running. Not long after I felt my body start to regain movement.
~Later~
I ran as fast as I could back to my mother. It's been a few hours since I ran from there. I hid behind a building first and slightly peeked to see if everything was ok. Just as my head popped from the corner a gust of wind and dirt covered my whole vision. I hid behind the building again and covered my mouth and nose with my hands.
Once the dust settled I peeked again. My mother had her foot on top of the woman's chest. She was also holding a rope that had the villain wrapped in chains that my mom created. Once my mom slowly looked up at my direction all my joy left. Since she was looking down I couldn't see her face until now.
"MOM!!" I yelled and sprinted towards her. My mom made no sound telling me to get back or wait. She just stared at me panting heavily. I stopped in my tracks as my mom started to put a hand up slowly in the air.
She then extended only her thumb towards at me. She was giving me a thumbs up. She then started to slightly smile. "Good job on listening, Alane.." She said.
I felt my eyes water up and I quickly hugged her. She then returned the hug tighter than me. I couldn't really breathe, but I didn't care.
My mom is the best.
