"i'm w-walking you." bill pointed, making you roll your eyes at him.

"bill, my house is literally around the block. i'll be fine." you looked at him, raising a brow.

"so?" he asked, giving you a questioning look.

you sighed, looking over at him.

"birthday boys shouldn't be chaperones."

he didn't budge.

he wasn't going to give up, you realized.

"c'mon." you mumbled, motioning for him to follow you.

a smile made it's way on his lips, and he happily walked beside you.

his smile is contagious.

"y-you know, georgie has been bringing up julie a lot." he brought up, swinging an arm around your shoudlers.

julie, your little sister. your partner in crime.

"oh? and what has he been saying?" you grinned. the thought of georgie having a crush on her was adorable.

"s-stuff like - when is she coming over? did you know she doesn't like g-grey?"

you giggled, shaking your head.

"that's fucking cute."

bill raised a brow at your sudden profanity.

that's different, he thought.

"i think you've b-been around richie too much."

"i think we've all been around richie too much."

"touché."

you grinned, looking up at him, "you think he'll ever get a girlfriend?"

bill snickered, "not a chance."

you playfully gasped, "that's mean!"

"y-you implied it!"

you laughed, "you said it."

bill rolled his eyes, shaking his head at you. he removed his arm from around you, pouting.

"you're d-dumb."

you looked at him up and down, raising a brow.

"you shouldn't be talking."

bill playfully scoffed, "sorry, einstein."

you chuckled, pulling him along as you reached the driveway of your house.

you grabbed your keys from your dress pocket, unlocking the front door.

"are your p-parents home?" bill asked, stepping inside after you.

you shrugged, "they called me last night when i was at your place. they said something about going to the park with julie. so, they're probably not."

he nodded, "and they didn't invite you?"

you pursed your lips, a little heat running on to your cheeks.

"hi, mom." you smiled, holding up the denbrough's house phone up to your ear.

"hey, honey!" her gleeful voice rang through the line. "so how's the baking going?"

you looked down to your other hand, remains of flour covering the skin.

"we're... getting there." you chuckled, wiping your hand on the apron you were wearing.

"that's great, hun. i just wanted to ask what time you're coming home tomorrow?"

you tapped your fingers across your arm, humming in response.

"i'm not sure yet. probably a little later than usual, since it's bill's birthday. why?"

"well, we were planning on going to the park tomorrow for your sister, but i know you wanna spend the day with bill."

you could pratically hear her smirk.

"mom," you groaned, rubbing your temple. "we're just friends! i'm almost positive you wouldn't let me sleep over with him if we weren't."

she didn't reply, only giving out a little chuckle.

"alright, baby. i love you."

you smiled, playfully rolling your eyes at her ignoring your response.

"i love you too."

...

"nope."

"that's k-kinda mean." bill raised a brow.

you shook your head, "no! i didn't want to go anyway. today's about you." you smiled, patting him on the shoulder.

his heart fluttered.

he smiled back, and watched as you walked up the stairs toward your room.

"i'll only be a minute!" you called out, closing the door behind you.

"lies!" he called out, making you laugh.

for bill's sake, you had tried your hardest to grab everything you needed as quickly as possible.

you changed into a swimsuit, throwing on a sundress over, and called it done.

at almost lightening speed, you were racing down the steps, a small backpack on your back.

"done." you smiled, taking in the look of shock on his face.

"i th-thought you'd take an hour." bill chuckled, getting up from the couch.

you rolled your eyes playfully, shoving him lightly. "rude."

he giggled, pushing his bangs away from his face.

you resisted the temptation to stare at him.

"you ready to g-go?" he asked, motioning to the door.

a memory struck your head, and you nodded.

"you left your bike here yesterday - it's in the garage."

"oh," bill smiled sheepishly. "i kinda forgot a-about that."

he didn't.

you smiled, shaking your head, "c'mon, i'll just ride with you."

he seemed to pause at this, his gaze settling to the floor.

his original idea was to be able to walk you to the quarry.

though, this was much better.

"o-oh, o-okay. let's go"
