a week ago, you would never even think about being in the position that you were currently in.

sat in a police station, papers among papers stacked on your lap.

a pen in your hand, your hold shaking violently.

you haven't been able to sleep.

you felt exhausted, but couldn't find the will in you to send your body to slumber.

julie had been missing for two whole days.

you hadn't contacted anyone but bill between the time period.

after all, he was the only one that had experienced the news with you.

he was worried for you.

you weren't emotionally stable.

you'd break into tears randomly.

but even worse,

the obsession of finding her had begun to get out of hand.

you had ridden your bike all across derry at least two times a day.

you looked in every sewer you passed.

you asked every stranger you saw.

but no one knew where she was.

"y/n,"

a gentle nudge was left on your shoulder, a worried-looking bill staring straight into your eyes.

"it's our t-turn."

you inhaled deeply, nodding.

bill had been sweet enough to accompany you as you visited the police station.

for the second time this day.

your parents, struck with grief, couldn't even bare the fact that their daughter was missing.

you knew you had now been unofficially-assigned a role of a leader since they hadn't been taking any action.

"here, i'll help." bill grabbed the papers in your hands, waiting as you stood up from your seat.

the door to the officer's office was wide open, just awaiting your arrival.

you hesitantly poked your head in the room, a bit embarrassed that you had come five times between yesterday and today.

"miss l/n, mr. denbrough." officer bowers greeted, sending you a greeting nod.

you let yourself fully in, closing the door after bill had entered.

you both took a seat beside each other on the opposite side of his desk.

"i- um," you sighed, crossing your fingers for any hope behind your back. "do you... have you found anything?"

he sent you a pitiful look.

don't cry, you told yourself. don't fucking cry.

you nodded, not trusting your voice.

bill grabbed your hand, squeezing it tightly.

"we have actually found something."

you immediately perked your head up.

"we found this in a large sewer pipe along the barrens."

officer bowers held up a plastic bag, a pink object inside.

you felt like someone had punched you in the gut.

"does this belong to your sister?"

you teared up, your hand clasping around your mouth.

you nodded.

in the bag, a small pink beanie was inside.

blood was around the rims.
