"i am not jumping first. you're bat-shit crazy."

you chuckled at richie, rolling your eyes.

even though all of you had jumped from the edge of the cliff multiple times, the adrenaline never fails to crawl on your skin.

"i'll go." you shrugged, stepping a bit closer to the edge.

you noticed bill's surprised look.

he knew this was a huge step for you, as you had always been afraid of heights.

if you were being honest, your words slipped out before you could stop them. regret crawled on your skin as you glanced at the long fall.

you can't just pussy-out though.

you stripped off your dress, leaving you in your swimsuit.

"woah, woah, woah, is this your first time going first?" richie smirked, sarcastically applauding. "i feel like a proud dad."

you snickered, walking backwards to the end.

the group watched you in confusion, wondering why you weren't paying attention to where you were going.

"why are you walking backwards?" mike asked, tilting his head to you.

you chuckled nervously, shutting your eyes tightly.

"i'm uh- i'm kinda scared of heights."

although you couldn't see, bill was staring at you with a look of pure adoration.

he thought you were just too cute.

taking a deep breath, you sighed.

"see you later, losers."

you spent your last moment on flipping richie off, and continued in taking your last step back.

falling feels strange.

you've watched alice in wonderland before. you've watched the scene where she falls through an endless pit.

that's how you felt.

the wind felt good across your bare skin, and the feeling at the bottom of your stomach wasn't as bad as it had once been.

at one moment, you feel like you're soaring through the sky, but then the next, you feel like you're on your way of crashing head-first into a field of concrete.

that's why adrenaline was so addictive.

you just couldn't get enough of it.

of course, you didn't dare to open your eyes.

but alas, you felt your body make contact with the pool of water below you, and your ride of energy was suddenly over.

you just did that.

"woo! beat that!" you yelled at the top of your lungs, basking in the naturally warm liquid.

it wasn't your first time jumping off from the cliff, but this time had been the most memorable.

normally, you and beverly would lock arms and go together.

but, you needed a taste of independence to prove that you could do it.

excited screams from each of losers echoed across the quarry as they dropped down one-by-one.

you giggled and covered your eyes, water splashing everywhere.

one of the sudden waves of water splashed from behind you, your hair landing on your face.

you huffed in slight annoyance, raising one hand to move it out of the way.

though, you stopped.

a hand that wasn't yours brushed the hair from your face, a slight chuckle coming from them.

"th-that was my fault. i landed too close to you." bill sheepishly smiled, placing your hair behind you.

you smiled at him, brushing his wet bangs away from his eyes.

"that's alright, birthday boy." you softly replied, not noticing that your hand was lingering on his face.

strangely, he didn't seem to mind.

in fact, as soon as you pulled your hand away, he felt a slight shiver in his spine.

he tried his best not to stare at you.

he tried.

how could he resist?

you just looked so good.

almost like you were practically glowing.

in your head, you were thinking the same about him.

"hey losers! we're playing chicken!"

and just like that, you turned to him, blushing when you realized he had been looking at you first.

he quickly looked away.

dammit, richie.

bill nervously glanced at the trees across from him, rubbing the back of his neck.

he had been caught staring at you.

the anxiety rushing through his brain and body felt like it was close to choking him.

his skin felt hot, and even though he was in water, he felt as though he was sweating.

with one more quick glance to you, he closed his eyes and sighed quietly.

fuck it, he thought.

"y/n d-do you want t-to be m-my p-partner for chicken?"

his stutter was ten times worse.

you noticed it.

you smiled at him, nodding, "of course, billy."

billy.

he loves it when you call him that.

it makes him feel special.

the two of you swim to the rest of the group. your eyes scanned around to see who everyone was partnered with.

eddie with richie,

stanley with mike,

and ben with beverly.

"we're going first!" you called, raising your arm up.

bill looked down at you, raising a brow.

well, you were just full of surprises today.

"alright," ben shrugged, smirking. "beverly and i challenge you guys. whoever loses has to walk into that creepy house in neibolt."

from beside him, eddie gagged.

you rose your brow, "seriously?"

neibolt was fucking creepy.

back when school was going on, you passed it when walking home everyday. it always gave you the chills.

ben nodded, "seriously."

you shivered at the thought, cringing at the possibilities of things that could be in there.

did you really what to agree to this?

you looked to bill for approval, and he gave you a simple nod.

he leaned in closer to you.

"it's okay." he whispered, "we're gonna b-beat them anyways."

you furrowed your brows, sighing.

"alright." you shrugged, extending your hand out. "deal."

ben smiled, shaking your hand.

"deal."
