Axel
I sat in the hospital room waiting for the doctor to come back with the tests. The room had different blues on the walls and pictures showing how to get shot and vaccines.
I looked down rubbing my left palm with my right thumb. I'm nervous, I mean I know it's nothing crazy, but I don't want it to be. What if it is. What if I'm-
The door of the office opened and the doctor walked into the room. He put a x-ray of my head on the bored hanging in to the room for me to see. He looked at me then pointed at these little white things on the x-ray.
"Do you see this?" he asked. I nodded.
"These are tumors." he said. I looked at him. My heart started beating so fast.
"But it's not cancer, right? You can get rid of them." I said. He went to say something, before he did, I started talking again.
"It can't be cancer. My life is finally going well, I have a girlfriend. I love her, I'm in love with her! I can't have cancer!" I yelled.
"I'm so sorry." I crumbled. I started crying. This can't be happening."Here, I got you some coffee." the doctor as he walked back into the room his aid by him.
"Am I gonna die?" he looked at me then pulled up a seat next to me
"Not if I can help it. You are farther along than we usually want but we can start chemo and radiation next week and then, if your body responds the way we want, we will then do surgery to remove all the tumors." he said. I nodded.
"And what if I don't respond to chemo the way you want." I said.
"Your chances are quite good that it won't hap-"
"What happens!" I yelled cutting him off.
He sighed.
"You will start getting worse then one day you'll die." I looked at him tears in my eyes.
"What are my chances?" I asked.
"60% of people make it and live a long life." he said.
"40% die." I said. He nodded.
"I'll start chemo next week." I said as he nodded writing down on his paper.I walked out of the room walking down the hallway. I felt like my whole life was ruined. I looked and saw Bree. She was wearing one of those candy striper outfits. I forgot she volunteered here on the weekends.
She smiled I tried to stand but the moment I saw her, saw someone I know, someone who Dove knows, I sunk to the ground.
She ran over to me trying to help me up but I couldn't move I can't believe this is happening. I can't. I can't. I can't.
I can't be another person she loses.
