Emma's PoV
"You can't do it now, we're scheduled to talk to the police in about 2 hours."
"We are?"
"Yeah, front desk told me."
"Wow, I can't believe this got so serious."
"This is our chance. Our chance to tell them who is was."
"I know. But I still don't feel like it's right."
"Emma, they killed you. Killed you! We have to make them arrested."
"I... I feel like I shouldn't do it! I want them to be happy. They may have killed me, but at least I'll be in a better place."
"Emma. Why are you just letting them go like that?" And then I came up with the perfect idea.
"Because. Jail isn't good enough revenge. They won't get hate there. But they'll get hate if they're famous."
"Th-that's brilliant! So... if we're lying to the police, what do we say?" Dani asked, keeping her voice as quiet as possible.
"We were kidnapped by hidden identities. Easy."
"Um... what about fingerprints?"
"Read the biology book. Child fingerprint oil doesn't stay for long. I think we can get our revenge."
"Perfect. Although I wish you could be alive to see it."
"I wish too. But life isn't supposed to be perfect. Life isn't supposed to give you everything you want. Life comes with hardships. And I was going to die in the end anyways."
Dani sighed.
"I suppose you're right. But I don't know how many times I'm going to tell you. No matter if we're apart, we're still together as sisters."
"We're birds of a feather."
"I swear, okay?"
"Our oath."

I was pushed around in a wheelchair into the room.
A light, a table, some files, a computer and chairs. Then people. That was it.
"C'mon in," the officer said, standing up. He shook my hand and I heard the door close.
My hand gripped the handlebars of the chair and I rolled them, rolling closer to the table, and Dani.
"Before we start, I just want to tell you that this conversation will be recorded and saved. Now we're just gunna ask you two a few questions, alright?" the woman asked. I just nodded. The police were serious people. I didn't want to mess up.
"Do you know anyone who committed the crime?"
"No," I lied. I was actually lying to the police. This was unimaginable, yet I was doing it.
"What did they look like. Hair, skin, length, gender?"
"Uh, there were a few. All men but we couldn't see them, they were, uh, sort of hidden, I guess you could say?" Dani asked. She was an okay liar. But we couldn't get caught.
"Any names that were spoken?"
"No, I don't think so. I never heard anything." The police scribbled down more things and typed them onto the computer.
"Moving on, what did they do to you?" I wasn't comfortable about answering this one. How in the world was I supposed to tell them what they did. I wasn't even comfortable about knowing what they did.
"Well, just hits, cuts and burns," Dani said. Just.
"That's it?" I nodded quickly, wanting to go to a different question.
"Alright. That's pretty much all we needed to know. Just one question. Are you depressed?" the man asked, pointing at me. He just asked me that. Me. Why would I be depressed I was trying to fight it, couldn't he see.
"I beg your pardon?" I asked politely. I wanted to get away from answering.
"You had several cuts on both arms when we found you. You medical files don't say anything about being diagnosed with anxiety or depression, but we're just making sure."
"Oh the cuts were from Lou- a cat," I lied.
"Alright. That's all we needed to ask. Now we need to give information to you," the woman said.
"Emma, you were legally adopted to he her sister, am I right?" the man asked. I nodded.
"It says in this file that..." he took out a folder near the bottom of the stack and opened it out, pulling out some papers. "You were also legally adopted by a man with the name Weiss." Wait... my "dad" had something to do with the kidnapping as well. But it was too late now. They would think I was lying from the start. Oh well.
I nodded, pretending as if nothing had happened, hoping that Dani wouldn't say anything about my "dad".
"And before you were adopted by Weiss, you were the daughter of Francisco Alonso and Mariah Cowell."
Cowell?! The note that Sophie had written had said "Emma Cowell" in it. So whoever wrote the note knew who I really was.
My dad had written that note pretending to be whoever Sophie was. He was probably the only one that I knew, who knew my real surname.
"Simon Cowell, Cowell?" Dani gasped.
"Let me see here..." the lady said, checking on her computer.
"Relatives... yes."
"Emma! You're related to a celebrity!"
"I know," I said glumly. I don't even think I'll ever see him anyways, 12 days isn't a lot. He probably didn't even care about me.
"You were first set up for an adoption because... wow, this isn't so clear, but it says here that there was a murder and your mother's last words to your father was 'send her away, far away'." Why would my mom tell me that? She wanted to get rid of me, didn't she?
"Oh, it's like she was trying to protect you," Dani said, smiling. I didn't think of that. Maybe she was. But still... she put me through all of this. And it's quite a lot that she put me through.
"And your birth city is Bayamón, Puerto Rico." That was why I looked so different from everyone here. I was born far away from London.
This was all such a surprise to me. Everything was hidden from me and I had mo idea until now. Now it's too late. I'm so close to death, I could've been told before. I don't think I'm going to have a happy ending. My life isn't and will never be a fairytale.
