Danielle's PoV

"Oh my god, Emma," I gasped, surveying her big burn on her shoulder. Dried blood stained her clothes and attached to her skin.

She didn't deserve this. I can't believe Liam did this. Over the top! He may have been whispering that he was trying to help, but he must've done this before.

That idiot, he changed too late. Emma's already ruined. Even when she fights it, she still is broken. I don't know who the real Emma is, but this Emma isn't the real Emma.

She's someone else deep inside, but she's hidden it from everyone, scared that the small sliver of her real self will escape. Because everything else was destroyed into smithereens.

And I'm supposed to fix her.

In the beginning, I only agreed because I thought I could prove myself worthy and get powers, but now I'm doing this for myself. And for Emma. I don't care if I get powers or not, I need to make Emma get through until she turns 14. We've bonded so close together, I want to give her what she deserves.

"How am I going to heal you?" I asked myself, looking in disgust at the ruined skin.

I could always ask the Council. They could use magic. Why was I so against it?

Reluctantly, I pulled out the special device and answered. Desdemona answered.

"Emma... she's injured," I told her before she could say anything.

"I see," she muttered in annoyance.

I watched as Desdemona's spell signature of dark blue and purple lightning hit Emma from out of nowhere.

The burn slowly shrank, almost as if the whole thing was getting un-injured. It looked pretty cool, to be honest. The blisters slowly shrinking, flattening and then adding onto the healed skin.

"Thanks, Desdemona," I said happily.

"It wasn't a problem. But you have got to stop using our powers and use your mothers! I heard she was the one who made Emma stay."

"Yeah... I know, you're right."

"Good. Because in June we'll be gone until August."

"So long?!"

"Council business. But goodbye, Danielle. Keep trying and protecting."

"Yeah, bye."

My gaze wandered over to Emma. How was I going to bring her back home? She was passed out. And she still had blood spilled around her.

I took out my other phone and called my mom, hoping she wasn't too busy at the moment.

"Yes, sweetheart?" she asked almost immediately.

"Mom, I need you to teleport Emma and I home. To our room," I told her.

Desdemona was right, I did rely on magic too much. We all have something we het addicted to. So much that it becomes a habit.

"Sure. Although, you better explain what happened when you get back," she warned.

"Yeah, yeah," I replied, hanging up. And in a flash, we were in our room back at home, Emma lying down on the bed.

"Wow, that's a lot of blood. But no wound? What happened?" my mom asked. She had been in our room too, I guess.

"Desdemona healed her. But she was burned. By Liam," I said, walking up to my mom to examine Emma's shoulder as well. There was just a small patch of pink skin, hardly noticeable.

"Wow, not too bad. Doesn't even look burned in the first place," she muttered.

"Mom, do you really think it was Liam who did it? I mean, he didn't look like he had any source of fire with him and he did say he wanted to help," I asked her.

"Him? He's always looked so sweet and innocent when I saw the pictures. But it most likely was him. If it wasn't, who else?"

"Wait a second... Mia! She's a Morph Kanay. With some extremely good training for an 11 year old."

"And 11 year old kanay? I don't think so. I think it was Sophie. I've read that she's in England at the moment. Killed a whole group of Churies. I think the whole tribe."

"Really? Less stink, that's great. But I really don't know. I just wish I could know exactly."

"Wh-where am I?" Emma asked as she sat up. She woke up, good.

"You're home, honey," my mom answered.

"I am? No! I can't be here. Dani-Danielle, you're a liar," Emma gasped, trying to get off the bed, but was too weak.

"What are you talking about?" I asked. Had she found out about the Magic Realm?

"You're another Justin, another Niall," she stated.

"What? How?" Where did she get that idea from?

"You are, they didn't care that you gave them the finger. So I can't stay here-" She was cut off when my mom cast a spell on her, the purple stream of light hit Emma square in the chest, and she shut up.

"I, I'm tired," Emma said, yawning. Had my mom cast a sleep spell, or actually made Emma stay?

"Go to sleep, honey. We're always there for you," my mom said.

"Always there," Emma whispered softly before she fell asleep.

"Yes, Emma. Always there for you," I replied in the same volume.
