*Ten Years Later*
"Here at the Institute for the Criminally Insane we try our best to house, rehabilitate and treat our patients. We have the most dangerous and the most delusional patients." The doctor lightly chuckles. I look out of the window with my hands folded behind me. I listen carefully as I watch the scenery before me. The sky is a bit grey and I watch the trees sway as a small breeze blows by.
"We are number one in this whole city and we are lucky to have a great doctor like you join our institute." I turn to face the doctor. He is seated behind his desk and his hands are folded before him. The wall behind him is decorated in different frames. I'm assuming all awards or certificates or licenses. The far left corner is a bookcase filled with medical books, presumably not touched. He has his hair neatly combed and his face freshly shaved. He looks like he's in his mid fifties. The bags underneath his eyes scream out the lack of sleep and the wrinkles on his face are evidence of his old age.
"I have looked over your file, very impressive but if may I ask what made you come all the way here? It's a long way from home." I glance back out to the window as he asks his question.
"Just needed a change of scenery. I needed something new." I truthfully tell him and I purse my lips together. Yeah a change of scenery is what I needed. What I need.
"Well shall we start the tour and get you acquainted with the facility." He stands up from his chair and walks to his door and opens the door. I follow after him; exiting his office. I smooth out my lab coat as I walk behind him. "Well here is where all the doctors have their offices." We walk down a corridor and past many closed doors with plaques with the names of the corresponding doctor. After a few twists and turns we make it to the actual institution. It's so dull and lifeless.
The complete opposite of what the doctor's offices look like. This part of the institution seems more like a jail than anything else. "Here we have the visiting area. Where some family members come and visit their loved ones. Only the ones deemed safe enough are allowed visitation rights." The doctor pushes past a huge navy blue door and leads me into the room.
There are multiple empty chairs and tables all lined up in order. Each table has a set of three chairs to it. You would think the visiting area would be lively and welcoming but it's not. It's bland and mediocre. We walk across the room and pass some doors. "Here we have the cafeteria." I glance over to the long and narrow tables and I spot some patients eating. Some look normal but others look like they're out of their minds. A particular young women fiddles with her knotted hair and is mumbling incoherent words. A patient begins to assault another patient and the male nurses quickly apprehend him and sedate him while pulling him away.
We walk toward another set of doors and push past them. "Here we have some of the patients room. This side of the institute; known as A block just consists of patients who are just mentally unstable, they have been known to attack but other than that they are almost harmless." He chuckles a bit and I give him a small smile. I continue to follow him down the hallway.
There's screams and shouts as we walk by. "You have to get me out of here. I don't belong here." This one guy says who has his hair disheveled and is missing a few front teeth. "The voices made me do it. The voice I tell you." I continue following after the doctor and ignoring the patient.
"Here's B block. The patient here are a bit more dangerous but not by much more but I still advise you to always be careful." I nod my head. We continue to walk until he stops me. "Now I must warn you. We are about to enter C Block. Here are where the most dangerous and terrifying patients reside. This is where the psychopathic murderers are held. They won't hesitate to attack and profoundly hurt you. Are you ready?"
"Yes sir." I reply to him. This isn't my first rodeo so I already know what to expect. He is buzzed in and I follow closely behind him. There's a lot of shouting and screaming going on in here.
"Hey Doc what brings you around? Fresh meat." one of the patient says. He is covered in tattoos and has a upside down cross tattooed on his forehead. He does look intimidating but I'm not that easily scared.
"What exactly have these patients done to end up here?" I ask the Doctor as we walk down the corridor.
"Well the guy who was trying to talk to you, well he set his whole family on fire when he was twelve. He was determined unfit for trial when he kept saying his dead sister told him to do it. When there's no record of him ever having a sister dead or alive."
"Hmm." Interesting.
"Ah here we have two of our male nurses that are assigned to this block. This is Nurse Hemmings and Nurse Irwin." He turns to look at them. "And this is one of our newest Doctors in this institution."
"We'll always be together
Don't you worry, oh"
"Nice to meet you.' I shake their hands but then I begin to hear this very melodic voice that carries out through the whole block. This voice sounds so beautiful and angelic. "Who is that?" I turn to ask the doctor as I try to figure out from which room that voice is coming from."I'll always be by your side
Don't you worry
Don't worry, no no no"
"Ah that's one of our female patients here. She's always singing that song for some reason." He chuckles. "This way." I follow him down to another hallway."The circle will never end
Just know that we'll meet again"
"Here have a look." He gestures to the door with a little window opening on the door. I peer in and that's when I see her. She's rocking back and forth while sitting down on the floor. Her blonde curly hair is a mess. She has a straight jacket on and she continues to rock back and forth while singing."And we'll always be together
Forever always, oh
I am here"
"What is she in here for?" I turn to ask the doctor."We'll always be together
Don't you worry
Don't you worry, no."
"Such a tragic story really." He hums. I turn to look back at the girl whose eyes are fixated onto the floor."I'll always be by your side
Don't you worry"
"On this night of Halloween, her and her three other friends were hanging out." He begins to say while I still look at this poor girl. She continues to sing and is oblivious to the fact that I'm here."Never worry about a thing, no no no no no no no
The circle will never end"
"The house was trashed and there were so many broken things it looks like the girls put up a fight." He continues to tell the story and now I am more focused on him than I am on this girl."It'll never end.
Just know that we'll meet again
We'll meet again"
"She attacked and murdered all three of her friends. It truly is saddening. She had her whole life ahead of her." I watch him as he shakes his head in disappointment."And we'll always be together
Forever always"
"Shouldn't she be in the state prison?" I ask him."Don't you worry
I am here
I am here
Yeah
I am here"
"No, she kept on saying that a demonic being killed her friends and she merely escape herself and we all know how that goes in court. So here she is." I look back to her and her eyes dart to me and she says the last line in such a dark menacing tone that it makes my skin crawl."I am here."
"Shall we head back to my office now Doctor Malik." I step back from the door and nod my head."Uh just Zayn pleas-se." I tell him as I quickly follow him out the doors.
