(9) School Is Back in Session

"This should be easy right? We weren't dating. Just drunken hook ups that we dont even remember." Bucky said

"Right..no attachments..no feelings. This wasn't even suppose to happen in the first place." Sawyer said as she swallowed back the lump in her throat.

"Okay good bye see you around." Bucky said as she got in her jeep.

"Yeah..bye." she said and drove off.

That was two weeks ago the morning after the last party of summer vacation. It was now the morning of the first day of junior year.

Sawyer was at her locker she hadn't felt good all morning before she left. "There's Barnes.." Sam said as Bucky came down the hall with Mckenna back on his arm.

Sawyer looked down then she heard Jason's voice. She looked up to see him and Brianna still together.

"Its good to see you and Kenna together." Natasha said

"Thank you Ive missed my girl. Im glad that she wanted a second chance." Bucky said not realizing that Sawyer was at her locker behind him.

She shut her locker she wiped her tears away. She walked past with her head hung low. Bucky's smile quickly disappeared when he saw Sawyer walk by.

"Is something wrong with Sawyer?" Natasha said

"She hasn't felt good all morning. Actually she hasn't really been herself." Steve said

"What do you mean?" Wanda said

"Idk she seems more emotional lately.." Steve said as they all walked to class.

Bucky found her during Study hall cause they had it together. He sat beside her "Sawyer?" He whispered

She looked up at him she smiled with teary eyes. "Hey Buck.." she said

He looked at her confused. "Whats the matter?" He said

"Nothing..I just um..I just um. Its nothing I swear." She said as she went to go to find some where else to sit.

Bucky looked down.

"Please talk to me..I know something is wrong. U never cry Sawyer."

To: J. Barnes
"Im fine dont worry about me."

Bucky sighed.

During lunch period she sat with some of her softball team mates. Natasha seen her "Seriously Steve.."

"Again I dont know..she just keeps saying she is fine." Steve said

That afternoon while she was getting her stuff to go home. Natasha walked over to her. "Hey whats your deal?"

"For the 100th time today! I am fine! I just want to be left alone! For fucksakes!" She yelled as she started to cry. "Just everybody leave me alone.." she said through tears.

She ran all the way to her car. "She does know we have cheer practice right?" Mckenna said

"Just give her a few minutes.." Steve said

Sawyer came in for practice after she was able to calm down. Once practice was over she was the first one out the door.

That Friday was the first football game of the season. James came in for it he sat with Winnie. They sat with Joe and Sarah.

Winnie said "Sarah is Sawyer alright I have never seen her yawn so much."

"She said something that she may want to quit. I think the break up with Jason really hurt her. She told me that he cheated on her. Here lately she just wants to be alone." Sarah said

"Bless her heart.." Winnie said

The next day she came in for practice. She turned in her uniform and walked away. Nat stopped her. "Sawyer?.." she said

"I just want to be alone..Im fine." Sawyer said as she walked away.

After football practice the boys came in. Bucky didn't her anywhere then he saw by Coach Simmons feet. A cheer bag that said "Sawyer G. Rogers"

He gulped he texted her

To: Sawyer R.
"What did you do?"

From: Sawyer R.
"Just leave me alone."

Mckenna came over to him. "Hey you ready to go on our group date!" She said

"Yeah.." he said

They all went to the movie theatre. Bucky couldn't concentrate on the movie. All he kept thinking was that maybe he was wrong. He thought that maybe them not remembering any of it that it would be an easy break off.

He started to feel guilty for hurting Sawyer. He basically did the same thing Jason did. After the movie was over they all headed to Sam's house for a party.

Bucky had noticed she quit coming to parties after they broke things off.

To:Sawyer R.
"Are you mad at me?"

"Hello?"

"Sawyer??

"???? Hello Sawyer??

He tried calling her three times. When she still wasn't answering he asked Natasha to try. She found Steve to try himself. They hadn't been at the party very long.

So they all left to head to Steve's. Once they went upstairs to her room. Her phone was dead in the floor and she was sound asleep.

Steve whispered "thank god.." as he and Natasha walked out. Bucky checked her wrists.

He plugged up her phone for her and went on home. The following Friday she sat with her parents as she watched the football game.

That night she was laying in bed after the game. Bucky came into her room. "Shouldn't you be at the party?" She said

He sat beside her he wiped her tears. "Did I upset you when I ended our secret?" He whispered

"No..I.." she said as she looked down.

He lifted her chin. "Sawyer..look at me. This isnt like you." He whispered as he wiped more tears.

"You are moody emotional Steve said you sleep all the time..that you eat alot...and thats not you Sawyer. You are tough darlin..and Im sorry if I hurt your feelings." He said

"Sawyer baby doll.." he whispered as he rested his forehead against hers. They sat in the quiet of her room like that with their eyes closed.

As he sat there like that a thought popped into his head. "Baby when was the last time you had a period?"as he went wide eyed.

She wiped tears as she looked at him. "I..think I had one in July it was spotty though. It only lasted a day.." she said

"We need to get you a test like now.." he said as he put her shoes on her.

They got in his truck and headed to town. He pulled into Walgreen's parking lot he ran inside he bought five different boxes.
