“So you and Hammond are going out tonight?” James asked me Friday afternoon.
“Yes.” I responded and finished off an important e-mail.
“I didn’t knew the two of you were dating.” He teased, and I glared at him.
“You sound like David!” I told him, making him laugh. I’d taken the guys to Rachel’s café last week, so the five of them had “finally” met, making Rachel rather flushed and clumsy and even more adorable than usual. I know it’s not nice to tease your friends with their crushes, but the way she’d looked when James entered the café was priceless and I’d pay my soul to see it again.
“It’s because David is smart.” James told me and typed something on his laptop before closing it and focusing on me.
“Seriously through, you’re not dating, are you?”
“Of course not, Richard is married James! I’d never date a married man; it’s against The Secret Laws Of Women.”
“The Secret Laws Of Women?”
“A woman is not allowed to even think of another woman’s partner. It’s the same as the Bro Code, just with about fifty thousand extra rules.” I told him while nodding. “Plus he loves Amanda too much to even consider an affair.”
“So you do have feelings for him!” James exclaimed.
“No James!” He has a lovely smile tho, the kind of smile that makes the world stop around you, so you’ll have an eternality just to look at it…
“I’m not that kind of girl, I could never even think about it. He has a family for crying out loud!” And his eyes dig into you and steal your soul and ability to breath for seconds if you just accidently gaze into them.
“Not even to mention his age. How’d you think my dad would react if I started dating a guy with such an age gap?” And he might be old, but honestly his aging has just made him look even hotter and more charming.
James smiled and nodded. “I was only joking Karen, don’t worry.”
I nodded too, and looked down at the e-mail before pressing send and closing the laptop, before starting to put all of my stuff back into my bag. I stood up and waited for James to finish packing up his stuff, so we could walk together.
“You’d make a cute couple tho.” He said a few moments later as we walked in the hallway.
“Shut up May.” I sighed, it’s never going to happen.
“Come on, I know cheating isn’t fair and there’s no good excuse for it, but if he hadn’t been married, I’d do anything to see the two of you as a couple.”
“Wauw James, I didn’t think you were a shipper.”
“A shipper?”
“It’s slang for someone who likes to imagine people being in a relationship. Nearly everyone online are shippers, some of them even write fan fiction and stuff.”
“I think you’ve already explained all of this to me once before, we were slightly drunk tho.”
“Slightly drunk? You and Richard both had trouble standing up.” I reminded him and giggled slightly.
“Oh God! You showed us that porn written about Hammond and I!” he nearly yelled as he remembered the lovely little smut fic I’d found that night.
“I did indeed.” I nodded.
“Why do you even write stuff like that?”
“Because it’s fun.” I told him sincerely.
