VINCENT'S POINT OF VIEW
I felt the wind against me as I sat back in the chair on the front porch.
A smile was permanently planted on my face as I heard the soft dove-like coos that came from the baby I was holding in my arms. I rocked back and forth in a slow rhythm to soothe her into a restful nap.
She looked so much like her mother, I thought to myself admiring her beauty.
She had pale skin that complimented the strawberry blond hair that she inherited from her mother. Her eyes were doe and a mixture of my eyes and her mother's eyes. They were dark green, like mine, with a blend of cerulean and seafoam to make her mother's cyan eyes. She had a few faded freckles that had yet to fully form across the bridge of her nose and apples of her cheeks. There was a faint beauty mark on her left cheek. She was a beautiful baby girl.
When I was younger, I dreamed of having children and becoming a father, but it never happened. When I got together with Cheyenne, it made sense that one day we would probably have children and that day finally came.
Cheyenne gave birth to the beautiful 7 month old baby girl who currently laid peacefully in my arms.
I couldn't be happier than I was right now. All my dreams had come true. I was with the woman I loved and had the child I'd dreamed about since I was in my early twenties. Everything was perfect.
It wasn't long before I noticed the baby girl slowly close her eyes as her body fell into a somnolent state.
A smile crept onto my face as I took in the sight of her. She looked so at peace. There was nothing that could or would ever hurt her. She was a living, breathing angel, and she was mine.
I didn't know what type of father I'd be or if I'd even be good at parenting, but the strong connection I had with this beautiful baby after just seven months proved to me that I was doing things right.
She felt safe and at home with me - that's all I could ask for.
As she rested in my arms, I decided to join her slumber and close my eyes, hoping a well deserved nap would envelope me.
The sounds of birds flying through the trees and the distant sound of children playing in their front yards houses away from where I sat accompanied me as I slowly drifted to sleep.
My mind had been turned off for only a small collection of minutes before I felt a warm hand rested on my shoulder that brought me out of my temporary sleep.
"She fall asleep already?" I heard a familiar voice take me out of my thoughts.
I blinked my eyes open and looked to the side to see Cheyenne smiling at me. I grinned before I tilted my head back so she could press a gentle kiss to my lips.
"Yeah, she fell asleep a little while ago. I've just been sitting here. I didn't have the heart to move and risk waking her up so I thought I'd join her," I said, ending with a light chuckle. I snuck one arm out from under the baby to rub my eyes.
