Good Morning

CHEYENNE'S POINT OF VIEW
I shuffled lightly in bed as I began to wake up from my restful sleep. A soft moan fell from my lips as I shimmied deeper into the warmth of the blankets. I didn't want to get out of bed but I knew that if I didn't wake up now then I would sleep until the late evening and waste the whole day.
I looked to my left side, expecting to see Vincent laying beside me. He wasn't there. A disappointed frown shaped my lips for a moment before I heard the sound of the TV playing in the living room and slippers shuffling against the hardwood floor.
Realizing that Vincent was already awake and starting his day, I decided to do the same.
This was my first weekend off since I started working at Evans & Partners and I wanted to enjoy it.
When I worked for Dr. Shaffer, weekends were never mine to indulge in. Weekends were his busiest days of the week, considering that a lot of his patients were children whose parents didn't want to take them out of school for a trip to the dentist.
Now that I had a weekend to myself, I wanted to do everything I had missed out on.
With plans of an ideal day of rest and relaxation swirling around in my mind, I forced myself out of bed. The cool air that came from the air conditioning created goosebumps over my skin. I was still used to the warmth of my blankets drowning me.
I headed into the master bathroom and immediately reacted to the cold tile floors. I quickly moved to step on the fluffy bath mats we had in front of the counter. There was one long counter that consisted of two sinks on either side of a makeup counter. The walk-in shower was in the far corner of the bathroom while the bathtub took up a big portion of the room, sitting opposite from the countertop.
Making sure to not step on anything but the warm mats, I moved to turn on the bathtub faucet. It had been a while since I took a soothing bath so I wanted to spoil myself. I made sure that I had the spa kit that Thalia bought me as a housewarming gift.
It was meant to be a joke. She told me that if I was going to be living with Vincent then I would need all the aromatherapy and bath salts I could get my hands on.
It took her and Vincent a while to get used to seeing each other on a regular basis once me and him got back together. Given their history of disdain for each other, I understood it. Thankfully, they were able to reach a place of toleration. They weren't best friends but they were able to be in the same room with each other and make small talk without it being awkward or forced. They were in a better place than they were when I first dated Vincent, which made me beyond happy.
I didn't want either of them to be uncomfortable around one another but I wasn't going to play referee between my best friend and my boyfriend. They both understood where I was coming from and made the effort to be the most basic of friends.
Seeing them able to crack jokes with each other and talk civilized always put a smile on my face - it was a reminder of how lucky I was to have people who cared about me.
