Laws of Attraction

CHEYENNE'S POINT OF VIEW
I looked myself over in the mirror. I didn't want to dress too flashy, but I didn't want to dress too simple either. I settled on a simple red dress that fell just above my knee. The bold color of the dress complimented my soft complexion. I paired it with simple shoes and grabbed a jacket from the coat closet by the front door, just in case the weather grew slightly chilly.
During the past week, Adrian and I had grown to be more than acquaintances. We were almost at the level of being friends, but we didn't see each other much at work to have conversations every day.
Today was the day of our lunch date, and I was a little nervous. I didn't see this lunch with Adrian as anything ill-intended. It seemed perfectly innocent.
I didn't know him as well as I knew Jade and Elijah, but I knew enough to know that he was a nice guy. And he was very charming. Paired with his devilishly handsome looks, he was a temptation in every definition of the word.
As much as he intrigued me, I had to remind myself that I was happy and in love with Vincent. I couldn't allow someone to ruin what we had. Adrian was someone I was admittedly attracted to, but I made the decision to keep things formal between us. Nothing past friendship would ever happen.
I shook my head in an attempt to remove the thoughts of Adrian that circled around in my mind.
Before heading out the door, I wrote a note and left it on the kitchen counter for Vincent.
He typically had weekends off from work and all to himself, but today, he was helping a friend of his. One of his coworkers was moving into a bigger house after his wife gave birth to a baby boy. Vincent volunteered to help him move some heavy furniture, so he was going to be busy all day.
I told him, in the note, that I was going out to lunch with a friend from work and that I'd be home soon. I wanted to let him know where I had gone, just in case, he showed up to the condo early.
I felt like I was being dishonest by not confessing that I was having lunch with another man. Even though it was nothing beyond a casual lunch, there was still a pestering cloud that hovered over m subconscious for not telling him.
I made sure I had everything I needed before I grabbed the keys to my car and left the condo. I drove to the restaurant Adrian texted me the address for.
When I got to the restaurant, I felt my stomach fill with a kaleidoscope of nervous butterflies. I exhaled a deep breath and headed into the restaurant. The interior was very pleasing to the eye.
There were red paper lanterns that lit up the room with a warm haze. It created a cozy atmosphere. The restaurant had a color palette of red, white, and black. There were a few tables that could fit about four people and booths that could fit large groups. The personal touches that reflected Chinese culture were everywhere you looked. Along the feature wall, there were wall scrolls that adorned water-colored images of tigers, cherry blossoms, and koi fish.
The man at the front register directed me to where Adrian was sat when I told him I was meeting someone here. I smiled to myself when I saw him sitting down waiting for me, tapping his fingers lightly along the edge of the table.
