Sophie Sullivan. She was my high school lover. The girl who was my best friend. The girl who was there when I was down. The girl who then moved miles upon miles away. The girl who I once loved.

Her dark brown plait came down her left shoulder and finished below her chest. Her deep green eyes searched the crowd with concern. They found mine, and gave she gave a pretty hair smile.

Jodie squeezed back on my hand.

'You okay Y/N? You look like a ghost!' she asked.

I kept my eyes on Sophie, staring at how unbelievable this was. I remembered how brilliant she was at acting in school. She always got the most praise and the highest marks in Drama.

And here she was. Chris can't have known, so it must be her doing. She'd heard about me, asked Chris or something, and given him her CV, and he said yes.

'Yeah. I'm.......fine.'

'You sure? You've gone quiet.'

'I'm fine! Really.'

I finally turned to her. Jodie looked the most concerned I'd ever seen her. I forced a smile and she mirrored a more truthful one.

'Okay! Listen, I just need to pop to the ladies with Mandip. See you soon?'

'Yep.'

She pecked my on the cheek and I blushed. I gave her a small wave and went back to the projector. But Sophie wasn't there. But a hand tapped my shoulder and I was swizzled round.

I gasped again as I took in her beauty. She seemed a little nervous and looked down.

'Wow, hi Sophie. Er, congrats on being the new Doctor.' I said awkwardly.

She looked up and performed a grin I hadn't seen in years. I was suddenly pulled into a hug that I missed so much and felt so good.

'Y/N!'

I smelt her perfumed hair and sighed. I could stay here forever, in Sophie's arms. For a moment, I completely forgot about Jodie and focused on the fantastic woman I had with me.

Sophie broke away and spun me round, almost to a count. I then realised that 'Man! I feel like a woman.' by Shania Twain was playing and she had begun to dance with me.

I swung my hips to the beat and occasionally kicked my legs. We did a little jig before going into a full-on jive. We chorused sassy hair flips and head shakes to the ending note of

'Man, I feel like a woman! Do-do do do-do do do.'

and erupted into laughter all over each other.

This continued for ages, with songs like 'It Must Be Love' by Madness and 'My Type' by Saint Motel. Time flew by, and soon it was the end of the party.

Sophie and I were outside saying our good nights with a last minute glass of wine. My head was light so I decided to go quickly.

'Wait Y/N.' said Sophie, grabbing my arm.

She walked up to me and kissed my full on the lips. My eyes widened and my eyebrows shot up my forehead. My heartbeat rocketed instantly and my temperature broke the charts.

I immediately pulled away and looked down.

'Y/N? What's wrong?' Sophie asked sweetly.

'I'm sorry Soph, but I can't.'

'Do what?'

'This. This....us. Love.'

I stepped back but she continued.

'Why not? You love me, don't you?'

I shut my eyes and held my stomach. My head spun like mad and my glass dropped from my weak hand with a faint smash.

'I'm really sorry. I...I love someone else. And we're dating too.'

'Oh right.' she replied sarcastically. 'And who's the lucky lady?'

'Jod..'

The hard tarmac hit my head like a brick and my blank world went black.

I opened my eyes a teensy bit and something wearing scrubs with a mask was hovering over me.

'Y/N? Can you hear me?'

The male voice echoed through my brain. I tried to speak but nothing came out. My limbs wouldn't budge either. I was paralysed.

'Y/N!!!'

'What?'

I opened my lazy eyes to glare at my waker. Mandips worried expression met mine at I relaxed a little. She sighed and smiled. 'Oh thank god you're alright. How's your head?'

I felt a soothing cold patch on my forehead and groaned. 'Guess.' I muttered grimly.

'Here.' Mandip passed me my phone. It must've fallen from my dress pocket when I fell. 'I haven't peeked at anything, promise.'

I took the phone and noticed a single notification. You have one message from Jodie❤️ it read.

I opened it and skimmed through our previous, tender text messages. I got to the most recent one.

After Dr Mandip has dealt with you, see me. We need to talk.

'Anything important?'

Mandip began to peek over my shoulder but I snapped the cover over the screen.

'No. Just some Twitter stuff.'

Later, after 'Dr Mandip' let me go, I got changed into a jumper and jeans and headed over to Jodie's trailer. I knocked politely but the door was already open. It swung round and hit the wall with a bang.

Jodie looked up sharply from her bed.

'Can you be any more louder?' she huffed.

'I..I'm sorry...it was already open...'

'Well at least shut it! It's freezing!'

'Its July!'

'Just shut it Y/N!'

I did so and locked it. If that door opened again, I was dead. I turned around to Jodie glowering at me. 'So,' she said. 'Who's your better other then?'

'I don't know what you're talking about!'

Jodie folded her arms. 'Yes, you do. Don't think you can go kissing other girls behind my back. I saw and heard everything.'

'No, you haven't.'

'Yes I have! I saw the giggling, the embracing, the touching...'

'The touching? There was no touching!'

'But there was kissing, wasn't there?'

'Sophie kissed me first, not the other way round.'

'Oooh Sophie. What a beautiful name. Much better than plain ol' Jodie, isn't it?'

'Oh come on. You're just being silly now.'

'Me? You're lying straight to my face!'

'I'm not!'

'You are! You were on the floor. Were you intercoursing?'

'Jodie! For gods sake I collapsed! And, funnily enough, it was because of you.'

'Were you telling Sophie your plan to break up with me?'
