she slid out of her shorts and underwear and Jace suddenly felt like he couldn't breath. "Jesus," he muttered and she came back to him, pulling at his jeans until she'd laid him bare and she grinned at the sight of his need, his erection ached with it, hard, wanting.
She leaned in and pressed a feather light kiss against the head of him and he threw his head back against the pillows, gripping the sheets in a tight fist. Kaelie crawled back over him, her hair a curtain around them and pressed her mouth back to his, settling her weight over him, teasing him. He grabbed at her hips, gripping her tightly, he knew his fingers would leave bruises but he couldn't bring himself to care. "Don't play with me, baby," he warned and he heard the music of her chuckle.
"What are you gonna do?" she taunted and then she let out a surprised moan when he finally sank into her forcefully. "Shit," she gasped.
She ground down into him, the sound of her voice as she felt the entirety of him was almost better than feeling her and Jace squeezed his eyes shut. "Yeah. Definitely going to kill me," he muttered. He moved her over him, using his hold on her hips, pulling her body over his and drinking in the small noises of pleasure that left her mouth.
She leaned down over him until her chest was pressed to his and her mouth was at his shoulder and her nails were digging into his skin. "Jace," she whispered and he grinned.
"I waited a long time to hear you say my name like that," he said, and in between moments he had her flipped over and lying under him and he slid back into her, hooking one of her legs over his shoulder.
"Jace," she repeated and he felt like he was drowning in the pleasure. "Please, I'm almost there." He groaned, pulling her body tight against his and he felt her shatter, fluttering around him, quiet and soft and nothing like her too fast personality.
"Fuck, baby girl, I'm there," he said and then his mind went blank with the violent intensity of his pleasure and he heard her gasp agian as he pushed deeper into her.
After a while, he slid off of her and lay on his back, pulling her into him. "I love you," he said into the darkness.
"I know."
Chapter 12
In The Valley of Our Mind
Kaelie woke up first, her head pillowed on Jace's chest. She smiled for a moment as she woke and watched the furrow in his brow as he slept, the soft rise and fall of his breathing. She sighed in disappointment as she sat up and then scooted carefully out of the bed. She placed a feather light kiss on Jace's forehead, pulling on her shorts and his shirt and slipping out of the room, closing the door behind her. It was time to figure out what to do next.
Jordan was gone, they had no way of knowing where he went, and Kaelie had the sinking feeling in her stomach that unless he wanted them to, they would never find him. She couldn't help but think that he might have been a lot higher up in the Illusion than he'd claimed and that his insanity over Britta was passing and once it was gone, he would be immeasurably more dangerous than he was now.
She made her way into the kitchen, struck by the deja vu of the last time she'd been here, cooking breakfast before they left for Paris. Everything was different now, strained and tense and Kaelie couldn't blame anyone but herself. She hadn't said a word, she'd suffered and let them suffer through her death just to keep them alive and in the end, it hadn't really mattered. She knew she would do it all again, but she wished they could just understand that she hadn't felt that she had a choice. She stayed gone or they end up six feet down.
She didn't cook this morning, just perched on the counter, dangling her legs in front of her, waiting. Sarah would be up first, she usually was and then Kaelie was hit hard with the realization that that may not even be true anymore, and in some ways she didn't know her friends at all anymore.
