What she didnt know was that what was she scared about?

She didnt need to talk to Reece about it!

He's just in town. She is probably overthinking about him. He doesnt even care. Had he cared, it wouldnt have been like what it was right now.

So brushing aside all his thoughts as best as she could, she decided to head back home before Reece would call again and go all Ninja on her!

Just then she heard her cellphone go off again. Sighing she saw it was Erica.

Erica was her childhood bestfriend and probably the only person who knew everything about her; even the part that no one knew.

" Hello? " she answered.

" Chloe, i dont know if this is good news, but he's back."

" I know. Saw him, got stuck." she let out a harsh breath as she spoke.

" Shit! Where are you then?"

" At the beach. Coming. Reece called up. He's worried."

"You told him yet?"

" Nope. I'm not ready to tell Reece yet.

Well anyways.. Who cares? I dont know who he is and he doesnt know who I am!"

" Chloe; he knows who you are."

" What do you mean?"

" He called me up. Got my number from his sister. He asked me about you."

" Tell him I went somewhere a long time ago. No contact ever since. " she knew she'd soon be hyperventilating. Again.

" Sorry. Cant do that."

" What? Why?" she sure was getting irritated.

" My dear sis already tild him you're here and that we meet almost everyday. I dont know what is it with him; but she just cant keep her mouth shut in front of him." Chloe imagined her friend scowling while talking to her.

But she couldnt smile given the situation she was in.

" Why did he ask about me? "

" Said he wanted to meet you. Or atleast talk. Asked for your contact which I clearly refused, but he's rather keen on meeting you and is somehow going to find a way he said."

" But why now? After such a long time ? "

" Something about completing all the promises he'd made. Said you'l know about it. "

" Okay. I'l talk to you later."

As realisation dawned upon her, she took a deep breath. He was back. She couldnt let him come again so easily after all that happened. She couldnt let Reece meet him. She couldnt let him get to her, let alone complete his promises.

Because she knew it was going to be nothing but trouble; which she clearly wasnt ready to face all over again.

Because he - Alan Sanders - was able to bring out the best and the worst in her; and make her world go upside down in an instant.

And she - Chloe Armen - was just not capable to handle the trouble he'd bring her, after all the years of suffering she had.

And as she again thought about him, all the anger in her welled up. Bracing herself, she decided she wouldnt let him get on her nerves and under her skin.

Ignorance is bliss she thought. Yes, that was what she was going to do.

But little did she know, that Alan had quite different plans.

Taking a deep breath, she got into her car, trying not to thing about that person who had once clouded her thoughts - Alan Sanders - and obviously, failing miserably in the process.

*****

As she reached home, she plopped down on the couch, doing the one thing she'd been doing since morning that day - 'thinking'.

She didnt expect to face him ever again.

And as she looked back, she knew one thing for sure, had he not met her that day 8 years ago, her life would've been entirely different. Or so she liked to think.

He'd made her an entirely different person, for good maybe.

What she noticed was, that time had surely changed the way they looked. And a part of her wanted to believe that he hadnt changed yet.

The one thing she saw in him even today as against the past was his confidence and cockiness. He stood there smugly, knowing the world was going to bow in front of him. Bastard! She thought.

She always thought or rather - liked to think that however he was, he had a really good heart. Somehow, the first time she'd seen him, something about him intrigued her. Something beckoned to her. His eyes held just so many emotions, that she knew she had to know everything about him.

And as their bond grew stronger, she knew she was in for trouble, but then she tild herself that there was no looking back.

She knew he needed someone to confide in, and she was going to do that.

As she reminisced, she had a million great memories with him and surely some bad ones too, but it didnt matter, for the joy it brought her was a lot more than what she paid for.

They always had a lot to talk about. She loved to talk; and he loved to listen to her. She never kept anything from him; and he shared his deepest secrets. They'd talk throughout the day and over the night but never get tired of each other.

She never really let her hold on him loose - for one thing she knew very well - just as much he needed her, she needed him equally.

Her parents never really knew about who he was, for she didnt tell them about him, not wanting to give any wrong ideas. So she'd sometimes sneak out when they wanted to meet up and talk.

Unlike Chloe, Alan had his fair share of girlfriends; and Chloe had some awful experiences from some of the possessive ones too.

But that didnt really break the bond that they shared. For it was not something just as temporary as a casual friendship - theirs was a tad bit more than that - a friendship full of trust, love and comfort.

Sure he had ego issues - and she'd get really angry at him for showing like he didnt care - but the anger wouldnt stay longer for she knew he cared - but had sropped showing it to people a long time ago, for he had his own share of scars.

And she knew better than to dwell onto it.

And then and there, Chloe had it figured, that she'd found something that people tried finding their entire lives.

And she didnt have any intentions to let it go.

But just then, at the age of 15, little did Chloe knew, that not everything turned out the way we want them to.
