I stood in the middle of the field, ready for what was coming. The rest of the family lined up on either side of me and the wolves hid in the distance so that they were not able to be discovered prematurely. For all I cared, though, I could have been lounging against a tree; it wouldn't have made a difference. I was strong, not as strong as the army was, however. The one lucky thing that I did bring to the table, unique from everyone else, was my ability to profile.

They came in a blur, the newborns. The approached quickly and were filled with an undesirable hunger. They could smell the blood-smeared by Bella and were conditioned to find it, so they weren't going to stop until they did. I supposed that they were warned about the Olympic Coven's existence, it would have been foolish to think otherwise.

The first newborn that I concentrated on, I read like an advertisement of weaknesses. I was quickly able to dismember the thing with ease. It was times like this that I thanked the stars that I wasn't easily influenced by emotion, if I had been I wouldn't have been able to partake in the activities that transpired that afternoon.

The entire battle had been a blur for me, I concentrated on profiling every newborn that came toward me, stripping them down to their most basic weaknesses, and then eliminating them. At one point, however, a newborn surprised me and knocked me on my ass. He stepped on my chest and I could see Emmett bolting toward me from the distance. I ripped the newborn's leg off and he went stumbling backwards into Emmett who ripped his head off.

"Nice teamwork," I high-fived Emmett before we looked around to see what else needed to be taken care of.

From the looks of it, all of the newborns had been killed and were being thrown into the large fire that had been created. The only one left was one that looked absolutely paranoid and Carlisle and Esme were taking care of her. Leah Clearwater jumped at one last newborn, but her plan of attack was flawed, it was obvious. Jacob Black jumped in at the last second to save her, but he was caught by the newborn, his ribcage was crushed before another wolf decapitated the thing.

Jacob automatically shifted and lied on the ground in agony. The wolves surrounded him and Carlisle rushed over to assess his injuries. "I had it, Jacob!" Leah yelled.

Bella bolted over to him once she realised what had happened, but she couldn't get to him. The wolves had picked him up gently and started to carry him off with the promise that Carlisle would tend to him as soon as the confrontation of the Volturi Coven occurred. After the wolves had disappeared from sight, the entire family regrouped and stood in a solid line beside the fire.

Emmett held onto my shoulders as a measure of comfort for himself. I stood in a prepared stance and watched the horizon line, waiting to see the infamous Coven clad in black robes. Once I did, I did not change my posture, I simply began to analyse each of them. One tracker, two witch twins. All as old as time.

"I see you had a successful turn of events," the small, blond girl pointed out.

"It wasn't without difficulty," Carlisle retorted.

"I doubt that," she simply stated. "I see you've missed one."

A small, brunette girl cowered in fear behind Esme. "She didn't know what she was getting into, it wasn't her choice," Esme explained.

"We've offered her hospitality in return for her surrender," Carlisle continued.

"Ah, well, that was not your choice to make," Jane responded. "Felix," she ordered.

"Wait! I didn't know, I'm sorry!" the girl, Bree, shrieked.

"Take care of her so I can go home," Jane rolled her eyes.

The older looking man, though not by much, advanced toward Bree and I turned my head in respect. Emmett held onto me tighter when the sound of the poor child's decapitation echoed through the air. Shortly after she was tossed into the fire, the coven left and Carlisle rushed off to the reservation to take care of Jacob.

Bella drove herself to the reservation as it was the most appropriate action and the rest of the family returned home. I skipped any conversation that may have been occurring and went straight up to the room that Emmett and I shared. I grabbed her cell phone and headphones and then headed outside on the back porch. I balanced myself on the railing and lied down on my back. I placed my headphones in my ears and blared music until I couldn't think about anything else.

The family let me be alone for hours on end, I didn't even move a millimetre from my original spot. I eventually ended up listening to the same songs on repeat as the morning came around. Once the middle of the day arrived, the two most important men in my life decided to bring me back into reality.

Carlisle stepped outside and gently tapped my shoulder to bring me out of my trance. My eyes opened slowly and I sat up, my hair was covered in small deposits of pollen, it gave it the appearance of the night sky. I removed my headphones and looked up at him as I waited for him to begin the conversation.

"Are you all right, Nora?" He questioned.

"Honestly, I was fine through that whole thing. What threw me off was that little girl. She was just a kid, she didn't deserve that," I shook my head.

"It was a very upsetting conclusion, I agree," he sighed.

"How has no one yet overthrown such a corrupt system?" I questioned aloud.

"Because they have too many numbers, it would be an impossible task."

"Nothing is impossible. Improbable, maybe, impossible? No."
