I took my husband's hand in mine and lightly kissed his fingers as I stared up at the city that lit up in the night. "Are you ready?" I asked him.
He sighed, "I lived 200 years, I supposed I've gotten my fair share of experiences."
"You don't have to come," I looked into his eyes.
"I do not wish to live without you," he smiled lightly.
"I don't have to go," I let my voice trail off.
"It means so much to you, it's worth a shot," Emmett reassured.
"Okay."
"Okay."
We walked into the city at a mundane pace as not to draw attention from the residential life. Not many other people were outside that late at night, mostly just a few street vendors and other people like us. I had to admit, however, that the aesthetic of the city's night life was pleasing.
Street lights were a yellow colour and they were posted on every street corner. Some blocks had string lights that connected from one side of the street to the other to bring some additional lighting to the outside world. It was expected when the locals were aware of what lurked around in the dark.
We reached the top of the city rather quickly, we stood in front of the clock tower that once symbolised another traumatic event. We stared at the clock for a moment and watched the minutes tick by. I reached for the door handle but my hand froze when I heard a younger woman behind me.
"Annora?" She called out.
I turned around to see a face that I had been convinced I would only see in photographs. Her dark, brown hair flowed over her shoulders in loose curls, some under her petticoat collar and some over. Her once ice blue eyes took the shade of a quiet burgundy and her facial structures looked as though she had been related to a Greek goddess. She stood in her place and waited for a response from me.
"Mom?"
