A/N: FOR THE NEXT FIVE DAYS, I WILL BE DOING A FIVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS-MEANING I WILL BE UPDATING THIS BOOK EVERYDAY UNTIL CHRISTMAS! I HOPE YOU GUYS ENJOYING READING THIS AS MUCH AS I HAVE ENJOYED WRITING THIS!"Second times the charm." Athena thought placing her beauty blender back onto her vanity.
As she blankly stared at her reflection, she couldn't help but wonder where life would have taken her had she never met Lance all those years ago.
Would she still be single...maybe even married?
Would she be a mother...with perhaps six or seven little ones running around?
Would she have quit school...or would she be a college graduate-working at her dream job?
Would she still have a relationship with her own mom?
Would she still have a life that she could call her own?
All these questions and more swarmed her mind-demanding answers that she simply just didn't have.
"Breathe. Just breathe Athena." She told herself as she desperately tried to stray her thoughts from going further down that toxic path she called memory lane.
Thankfully, the obnoxiously loud growling immersing from her empty stomach- gave Athena something else to think about instead of one of her life's greatest mistakes.
"Eat now...have a mini breakdown later." She told herself as she scurried out from her room and practically ran down the staircase.
Reaching the main floor she could clearly hear the muffled voices of Lance's men coming from down the hall...right near the kitchen.
"Oh crap." she muttered to herself knowing full well what would happen if she were to walk past those vile men. And after the morning she just had, she wanted to avoid that interaction at all costs.
"Athena? Athena what are you doing standing in the middle of the walkway?"
Nearly jumping out of her socks, Athena quickly spun around on her heels-only to let out a sigh of relief.
"Jesus Christ Xavier. You scared the crap out of me." Athena grumbled clutching at her rapidly beating heart.
"Sorry Athena. I didn't mean to scare you." Xavier said sheepishly putting his hands up in mock surrender.
"It's fine Xavier." Athena said taking in the lanky man's appearance. He wore his hair slicked back just like he did any other day. His usual attire consisting of a freshly pressed long sleeved plaided button down shirt to which was tightly tucked away in the confines of his khakis. All the while tying the entire ensemble together with a pair of hightop chuck taylors.
"I was just," Athena said releasing a shaky breath, "I was just trying to avoid-AHHH!" Athena screamed out in both pain and surprise-cutting herself off at the feeling of someones hand harshly slapping her on the ass.
"Hey sexy."
"You trying to hide from us baby-girl?"
Their stomach churning voices filled her ears-effectively making the bile from her empty stomach climb into her throat, rendering her momentarily speechless.
"Please leave me alone." She muttered under her breath, not having the courage to look these men in their sadistically beaming eyes.
"Sorry," one of the men said mockingly cupping his ear, "I didn't catch that. Did you say please fuck me...because that can surely be arranged." The grimy man finished with a sinister smile.
"Leave her alone Chandler!" Xavier exclaimed puffing out his chest with a humph, annoyed by their mere presence.
"Or what...huh," Chandler said poking Xavier harshly in the chest," What are you going to do if I don't-pusśy." Chandler taunted, laughing alongside his sidekick.
