A request by SpiderDetectioner, where Fontaine is lesbian, loves her best friend, and somehow, someway... her parents already knew?!

Fontaine POV

It's been a while since my family and I have run into some sort of trouble, which was worrisome, don't get me wrong, I enjoy the peace and all that, but the Nekton not getting into trouble? I just hope this isn't the calm before the storm... The day had started pretty normally, me and my mom were getting ready to receive some of our mail. I had asked for quite some stuff since I had gained money by working with a big organization that helped whales. I had been asked to spy on this aquarium by the organization, and I found horrible things being done. The tanks were unbelievably dirty, the animals were not fed enough, many were sick and had not been separated, the sick ones were also not getting treated, and it was just a general disaster.

I helped the organization gain evidence, hard and concrete evidence, and they managed to get custody of all the animals. Plus the place was closed now, which was truly important. As I waited in my room I received a notification from my phone, which I immediately checked. It was a message from Jess. As soon as I read her name my heart sped up, making me feel it all over my chest.

From: Jess
Hey girl! I just heard that you helped out The Biggest Blue Organization with the Orca case! I am proud of you bestie! Can't wait for a video call!!

She was proud of me! Jess was proud of me! She was always super nice, and she cared a lot about me... Sure I have other friends and  also have my family but... Jess is super special. She has been with me through some dark times, and she loved the ocean as much as I do, or maybe a little less. Jess also cheered for me when I decided to play guitar, Dad was a little hesitant, but mom and Jess managed to convince him. She was also thereafter I lost a good friend of mine to cancer, her name was Phoebe. And although Jess and she never met, Jess understood my pain.

From: Fontaine
Thanks, baby! I am waiting for my mail to appear if you want we can video call while I unbox?

As soon as I sent the message I felt extremely nervous, what if she was busy? What if she changed her mind after she said yes? What if she didn't say yes? Would it be awkward? Also... Why do I suddenly care so much? I always cared but not to this extreme, or at least I never noticed until now. Is it weird to think like this about a friend? Is it normal for other people? Do I do this with other friends? As I kept thinking about it, my phone ringed, and I immediately opened it.

From: Jess
Hell yeah! Just text me and I'll call while you prep your phone.

From Fontaine:
Alright!

I released a breath that had gotten caught in me when I saw it was her response. I smiled softly and I realized that while I truly love all of my friends, Jess held a special place in my heart. Whenever we were together she made me feel full of energy and desire to prove myself. With the rest of my friends, it's just filled with happiness and a bit hyper if anything. There was a clear difference now, had it always been there? No. No, I am certain this just started existing rather slowly, it was gradual. So why? Why do I feel this way, why only with her?

"FONTAINE!! The packages were delivered, come get yours!" Ant's voice suddenly resonated in my room. When I looked up I realized his head was inside my room now, the rest of his body still outside. He had a huge grin in his face, he had probably ordered something he truly wanted or thought of as cool. As he finished screaming he ran away, in the direction of our kitchen. Many things that arrived were food supplies, so it's not a surprise if mom or dad sent the boxes to the kitchen in advance.

I ran out, quickly rushing behind him. We both got to the kitchen basically at the same time. Mom was already there, sorting out the boxes in small groups. She turned when she heard our steps and simply smiled while she continued her current task. I saw Ant quickly rush towards the smallest pile, the boxes seemed pretty thick, so whatever was inside was probably either really important or really fragile. I rolled my eyes and searched between the piles until I saw one box in a pile with my name in it.
