The dark night smoothly settled on the horizon. The road in front of them seemed never ending. The only barrier between the two teenagers and the darkness of the night, was the van, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but most see see it as a no good, throw away, retro "hippie" van, but not Harry, this van was his home, or at least the only sense of home he'd ever known.
And now, it is also Jackie's new home, she just doesn't know it yet.
Jackie's lying peacefully, knocked out on a small mattress nestled in the back of the van.
She's young, smart, selfless and at the ripe age of 18, her entire life was planned out, she even had been anticipating starting college in the fall to study law, and eventually start her career, get married and some where along the line start a family.
The picture perfect future
But today interrupted those plans permanently for Jackie.
Harry, with his hands firmly grasping the steering wheel sat, gazing at the empty road with a blank stare, pondered whether or not to pursue his deranged plan or just drop the poor helpless girl off somewhere before she wakes up.
He settled on the first option.
Harry is severely introverted and enjoyed spending all his time alone, in his van, listening to The Rolling Stones on an ancient turn table and participating in underage drinking.
Harry also found a belonging in the darkness, it held the deepest sense of security for him, but the saddest part of it all, he had a reason to find belonging in it, because he didn't belong anywhere else.
Harry's head jolted towards the back of the van at a sudden noise
She's awake.
Jackie cautiously awoke from her "encouraged" sleep. Her vision was hazed, her movements numb, the pit of her throat hardened as she swallowed.
With her eyes still closed, a result from the heaviness, she noticed her hands were bound tightly together behind her back in a soft rope.
She screamed a horrific scream in her sudden state of panic. Her eyes were cautiously opening as her senses started to strengthen. Her breaths were short and highly panicked. She frantically swung her head from side to side until she realized what was happening, she had been kidnapped.
"Stay calm" Harry spoke in a loud voice from the drivers seat, not even taking a second to glance back at the troubled girl.
Every muscle in Jackie's entire body tensed still at the familiar voice. All she could see from her constrained place on the mattress was the back of Harry's head and a few stay curls poking out above the head rest on his seat.
"Why should I be calm?" Jackie breathed out, exasperated
"Well" Harry chuckled mid sentence
"Because you don't have much of a choice"
"Why me" Jackie sighed, more calmly than before, as panicking in this situation is the worst possible thing you can do
"Cause, maybe I like you" Harry smirked cockily.
"I don't even know you" Jackie reasoned.
"I wouldn't be so sure about that Jackie." Harry retorted.
Jackie was heavily taken aback at the fact that this kidnapper knew her by name.
"How do you know my name" Jackie stated sternly, her voice shaky.
"Now Jackie, don't play dumb"
After he spoke he slowed down the van and veered to the side of the rode and stopped, all within a few seconds.
Harry head spun around to the back of the van, his and Jackie's eyes practically locked mid air.
"Harry?" Jackie choked out in a short breath.
"Bingo"
