DarkFlower and IceTail exchanged a nervous glance. IceTail smiled awkwardly, touching his pale pink nose to DarkFlower's nose. DarkFlower smiled back, but then looked nervously down at her kits again. "They're ours and they're beautiful." IceTail mewed softly. He swept his tongue over his mate's ear. "Even Starclan can punish me and I'll love them." DarkFlower sighed. She didn't look at IceTail, but intertwined her tail with his. "I agree." she says finally. "We still need to name this little one," IceTail reminded her, flicking his tail towards the smallest of the kits. "Yes, yes." DarkFlower sighed. "I'll decide soon. Let me know if you have an idea, sweetheart." She looked at him lovingly for a moment, then pulled away. IceTail noticed she was focusing on something outside of the nursery. From the entrance they could see several shadowclan cats walking by, only to glance at the nursery and either roll their eyes in disgust or ignore it as if they never looked.
"Starclan can punish me and I'll love them." DarkFlower repeated her mate's words. Soon the sun began to go down, and SpottedStar poked his head in the nursery. "IceTail," he began. The skinny white and grey tom sighed. "Yeah, I know. I should be going by now." he said, cutting SpottedStar off. "Well, stay as long as you have to." the leader mewed as IceTail began to get up. "No rush, of course. These are your kits." IceTail dipped his head. "Thank you for the respect, SpottedStar. But my clan would want me for patrol. Besides, I shouldn't be on your territory, especially how long I've been staying." IceTail pressed his muzzle to DarkFlower's again, then pushed out of the nursery and ran out of shadowclan territory, running faster the farther away he got. DarkFlower smiled sadly once again. "Don't feel so bad," SpottedStar mewed kindly. "These look like fine kits." He started to exit the nursery. "And I'm sure they'll grow up to be great." DarkFlower smiled at her leader. "Thanks again for understanding." she mewed. "It's nothing. I know what it's like to have someone dear to me be someone I can barely see." He meowed as he exited and ran off to his den. DarkFlower wondered what he meant for a moment, before looking back at her kits. ShadeKit, the oldest. Then BadgerKit, then HazelKit, and the smallest one. DarkFlower still had no ideas of a name for her. Soon another cat came in to the nursery and sat down, curled up with her own kits. It was LionSpark, and her kits SpeckledKit and ShimmerKit. Their similar yellow pelts looked golden in the shining, beautiful sunset. DarkFlower glanced at LionSpark and gave her a half-smile, before staring off into the nursery entrance. She thought about the prophecy she had been given before, by her own mother. Oh, when will I understand it, she wondered, and when will it finally occur?
She made a note to herself to speak with the medicine cat, CharmTail, about the prophecy once again. CharmTail respected her, despite her situation. I don't regret a thing. She thought, curling up with her kits and drifting asleep.
