After a good long sleep, SharkPaw woke up. The clan needs me. She stretched and padded out of the apprentices' den, and quickly started helping the clan repair what had burned in the fire. It had been half a moon since the fire and the attack at the alley in Twolegplace. None of the attackers that FoxLilly was with have been seen since the battle, but the patrols think they're staying somewhere in Twolegplace as rouges.
SharkPaw was placing sticks onto a hole in the roof of the elders' den with HazelFern, who, along with their brothers, had been made a warrior a few nights ago, when she heard SpottedStar calling her. "SharkPaw! SharkPaw come here!" I hope I'm not in trouble... she thought as she finished repairing the hole in the den, and padded on the grey, ash-covered ground over to where her leader was calling her. SpottedStar quickly leaned closer and whispered in SharkPaw's ear: "I have a secret mission for you." "Me? a secret mission?" she whispered back, fear and excitement flowing through her. "Yes. I need you to go to ThunderClan, find their medicine cat, MistyStrike, tell him your name and as if he knows about a prophecy." "What prophecy?" SharkPaw asked. SpottedStar looked hesitant to respond. "Just say 'a prophecy' and he should know what you're talking about." Why me though? SharkPaw wondered, but didn't want to argue with her leader. "Okay." she said. "Anything else?" SpottedStar hesitated again, as if there was information he wasn't sure he should share with her. "Only me, CharmTail, and DarkFlower know. Don't tell anyone else about it." SharkPaw nodded and SpottedStar sent her off.
Coming into ThunderClan territory was scary for her. She knew nobody in ThunderClan, and didn't think anybody knew her. Before long, what seemed like an excited ThunderClan kit was approaching her. The blue-grey and white kit paused in front of her and mewed innocently "Why are you here?" SharkPaw padded forward carefully. "I come in peace. I need to speak with-" She ran over to her immediately. "That's great! Maybe we can be friends! I'm IcyPaw by the way!"
"You're a bit small for an apprentice."
"I get that a lot!"SharkPaw paused for a moment. She wasn't sure what to say that didn't sound rude.
"Who-who's your mentor?"
"MistyStrike, why?"
SharkPaw froze. "Uh, can you take me to him?"
"Sure thing!"
SharkPaw entered MistyStrike's den. A grey tom was pacing back and forth in the den. "Hello? MistyStrike?" "Yes?" he said, sitting down. "Who are you?" SharkPaw wanted to seem confident. She thought again about what to say. "I'm SharkPaw from ShadowClan, and...I would like to ask about a prophe-" MistyStrike let out a relieved sigh. "Finally! Thank StarClan! Apologies for cutting you off. Let's speak in private."
He turned to IcyPaw. Quickly, the small apprentice nodded and padded out of the den.
"So you're SharkPaw..."
"...Yes?"
"Kit of DarkFlower and IceTail?"
"Yeah..."
"Okay. Listen closely."
SharkPaw sat down in front of the medicine cat, curious to hear what he had to say.
"Every leader and medicine cat has heard of you. You're special, SharkPaw. Did you know your mother is half-clan?"
"Yeah..."
"And so is IceTail?"
"IceTail is half-clan?!"
"Hush. You, SharkPaw, are not only a ShadowClan cat. You are a cat of all clans. Have you had strange dreams where you received messages from StarClan?"
SharkPaw nodded slowly.
"Listen to them. They shall guide you.
You have been sent here for a reason. I've heard things the other medicine cats hadn't."
SharkPaw was confused, but eager to hear more.
"You are to defeat the evils in the forest."
"Me?"
"You."
"You will be SharkWillow, the cat of all clans.
