『Abel』
It's been about a day or so. Honestly, I have no idea how much time has passed. This place is like a time hole in the best way possible. Heck, it's like an interdimensional rift. Nobody has worries about anything, really. Its existence is just so different from the rest of the world.
I've been given a temporary room with Tsuki for now. The same room we were held in, strangely enough. I mean, it is nice enough to live in. Apparently, they're going to build us our own places for the long term. Well, I don't know about that.
Speaking of Tsuki, he's out and about with Keisha, getting to know everybody. They invited me along, but I've got a few things of my own to sort out. I have to call Elpis. I shouldn't have her think that I've abandoned her cause, or that I'm in danger.
I dial up her number― the only number in this thing, mind you. Can she even reach me down here, though? I got to her earlier, but she couldn't pinpoint whereabouts I am which is something that I'd like to know. The ringing draws on and on, almost resonating throughout my small room. I'm just about to hang up but her scrappy voice finally answers.
"Uh, Abel! You're alive!" I can't tell if she's being sarcastic or not. "So, what's up?"
"Well, do you know where I am right now?" I inquire.
"Nope. I've still got nothing, sorry," she responds.
"Alright then, that's fine," I assure her. "I'll just tell you about it then."
"Shoot."
"It's some sort of underground colony of miscreates like myself and by extension you. I was navigating a series of unused subway tunnels before being knocked out and brought here." I explain. "Is any of this making sense?"
"It makes plenty of sense, I just have no idea where that would be," she laughs awkwardly.
"I'm thinking of staying here for good," I say. "I mean, it seems pretty nice. Nobody gives us trouble and I don't think anyone will find us down here."
"Speaking from experience, even the safest places are found eventually," she interjects calmly, "and when that happens, you'll have to give up something big. In my opinion, it's best to keep moving, especially since you're a fugitive."
"Um, alright. I guess I'll get going as soon as I can," I reply. "I just need to sort some things out."
"It's all good, take your time," she reassures me, "well, not too much time. See ya!"
Well isn't this great. Personally, I think we should stay here, at least for a little while. Wait, I don't mean 'we,' I mean 'I.' Tsuki seems to really like it here, and I don't think he'd be too keen on leaving. Besides, I've been a burden to him the whole way. But then again, he said earlier that he was separated from his sister, so I'm sure he wants to try to track her down. Maybe I won't be alone. Still, I can't be certain.
Just then, two loud and boisterous figures burst through my door. Yep, it's Keisha and Tsuki. By the looks of it, it seems like they had lots of fun without me. Speaking of which, I don't think I've ever seen Tsuki that happy. Actually, that makes perfect sense. It's only been little over a week at most.
"You done yet?" Tsuki asks me, emanating joy.
"Yeah, I've got something freaking epic to show you guys," Keisha boasts. "I mean, I was going to show Tsuki but he insisted that we took you along."
