Awkward Encounters

"Late again I see," Samantha said, I could tell she was pissed off but I didn't know why. It was only five minutes, not the end of the world.
"We can make up the time lost and it's only five minutes chill," I said beginning to feel a little frustrated myself.
"Oh we can, can we? So happy to see you put your boyfriend before your grades." She said turning to the piano and rearranging her sheet music. I felt confused. I didn't have a boyfriend. I mean don't get me wrong I wish I did but I don't. "Oh I understand who wouldn't pass up the chance to hangout with the famous Niall Horan but I just thought you'd be more sensible."
Wait what? Niall? My boyfriend? Oh no. The paparazzi. I had never thought that they would put those pictures out and people would see us as boyfriend and girlfriend.
"Niall is not my boyfriend," I told Samantha, the disbelief clear in my voice.
"Oh really then what's this?" She asked me pulling out her phone which showed an online news article with the headline 'Niall Horan's New Girlfriend' and a picture of me and Niall entering the video shop underneath.
"No, no, no this is wrong we're just friends," I told her remembering the events that took place at Niall's dorm earlier that morning.
"Sure, right now can we please just rehearse?" Samantha asked putting her sheet music on a stand and setting up the music player to play the song.
The rest of the rehearsal went off without any more problems. Samantha was still tense and a little pissed off of course but even she had to admit our duet was coming along quite nicely. In between each time we did the song my mind kept wandering back to the news article. Did people really think we were a couple? I don't blame them I guess since I thought we may have been more than friends. Then again being friends with my idol is more than I could have ever thought would have happened so I shouldn't be complaining. Still I needed to fix this before we got into trouble. I couldn't have people thinking we were a couple if Niall wasn't interested so I decided to pay him another visit after rehearsal.
"Diana, hi," Niall said when he opened the door.
"Hi Niall," I said.
"Is everything alright?" He asked me sensing my distress.
"Actually not really." I told him and he stepped out of the door.
"Then why don't you come in and we can talk about it." He said.
I came in and explained to Niall the situation that our little visit to the film shop got us into. I thought for a second I saw a hint of disappointment in his eyes when I said that we were just friends but I knew I was imagining it because of what happened earlier. When I finished he said he'd talk to management and get them to clear things up and I felt relief wash over me. I didn't want this to cause any problems for us.
As I was going to walk out the door Niall put his arm in front of the door to stop me and my heart fluttered at his closeness.
"Hey Diana I was wondering if maybe you and some of your friends who are fans would maybe want to come watch rehearsals for our new show. Me and the boys really want feedback from fans and I told them I'd ask you. So? What do you think?" He said smiling and I felt myself grow giddy with excitement. Seeing the boys singing live? Hello, of course I'd want to. It would be a dream come true actually and I knew exactly who I'd take.
"Um is that even a question? Of course I'd love to see your rehearsals. It's a date!" I said and then immediately realized my mistake. "I mean not date like a date but you know... a thing." I said blushing out of embarrassment.
"Oh no it's okay I... I got it," Niall said blushing as well.
"Well um... text me the details," I said writing my number on a notepad that I kept in my purse at all times and then rushed out the door to end the awkwardness and immediately texted Emma to tell her the good news.
