Best Car Ride Ever

Me and Bella have become good friends with our neighbours. Emma is a lot less shy now that we've gotten to know each other. She's majoring in creative writing and Lizzy (Elizabeth) is majoring in physics. It's unexpected, I thought she was majoring in design because of all the amazing clothes she has but no. She's really, really smart. It's hard to have a conversation with her without seeming really dumb. Katie has been quiet lately. I'm hoping that the Haylor thing has lowered her self confidence.

I've been memorizing like crazy for our spring show. I have to do a monologue, a song, a skit and need to do a duet with someone in my music class. I'm really nervous, I have no friends in this class. How am I supposed to do a duet with someone who hates me? There's a girl in my class named Samantha I'm hoping to be paired with. She's a little self-centred and really annoying but she's an amazing singer and she's a lot better than any of the perverted guys in my class or Katie and her gang.

I sit in class praying that I'm not paired up with anyone bad. My teacher starts reading names off a list. I hold my breath until my name is called.

"Diana you will be singing with Samantha," my teacher says.

I breathe a sigh of relief. I see Samantha at the other end of the room and smile but in return I just get a dirty look. This may be worse than I thought.

I sit on my bed reviewing my lines when I hear a knock on the door. I push the papers aside and run to the door. To my surprise Niall is standing in the doorway.

"Niall! What are you doing here?" I say with a smile as big as the Cheshire cat's.

"I was wondering if you would want to hang out today? I'm thinking of maybe renting a movie or something," Niall said speaking with confidence. God, why was he so cute?

"Um... sure... I mean yes I'd love to," I say struggling to find words after I had just been asked out by Niall freaking Horan! I have been fantasizing about this moment ever since I first saw him on the X factor. I feel like I'm floating on a cloud.

He smiled, "great! Is there any particular movie you want to watch?"

Oh geez, I really do not want to sound like a nerd in front of Niall. I don't even know what kind of movies he likes. Does he like superheroes? Comedy? Disney?

"Do you like Disney?" I ask him, because everyone loves Disney... right?

"Who doesn't?" He says laughing. I feel so relieved, I don't sound stupid.

"Stupid people!" I say and Niall agrees. I grab my jacket and Niall leads me out to the parking lot and to his car. Well, I don't know if it's his because someone else was driving it. I felt kind of uncomfortable. I didn't really know how to act. I wanted to make a good impression but then again I don't want to seem fake like Katie.

"So how have you been?" I ask finally.

"Great, going on tour soon." Niall replies.

"Oh I heard! I wasn't lucky enough to get tickets though. It's alright because well... you know... I'm here and I know you and you know me and... yeah." I say not knowing how to put my thoughts into words. One of the side effects of having a crush on Niall Horan and then being in a car with Niall Horan.

"Maybe you could come to one of our shows. It would be awesome if you heard us live. It's always fun to have a friend in the crowd." He says.

"That would be fantastic!" I say smiling from ear to ear.

We spent the rest of the car ride chatting happily. For a moment I even forgot he was Niall Horan. He seemed so normal. I have to admit that in that moment I also forgot all my problems and let myself enjoy this and it felt amazing.
