When my mom was 8 months along, I recieved a rushed call when I was at school.
"Honey! I need you to come get me!" Mom's voice transmitted frantically over the line. " I think I'm going into labour!"
"B-but where's Grandma?!" I asked, rushing to my car.
"She went to get some groceries! She's not answering her phone!" she yelled. " Please Hurry!"
And she hung up. I rushed down two streets almost running over a cat and zoomed past two stop signs and a red light. Soon, I pulled unto my street and rushed into my yard. I fumbled with my keys and opened the door. Mom was lying down on our sofa in a hugely oversized football jersey. She pushed her feet into her red flip flops and I helped her up. The couch was wet so I guess her water had broken.
I helped her into the passenger seat and quickly but carefully drove to the nearby hospital. Mom's doctor, Mrs. Duncan, was paged as soon as we got there and we were ushered into an empty hospital room.
Doctor Duncan's dark hair which was specked with grey, turned the corner.
"Doctor!" I said, waving her over.
"Hello Axel." she said, calmly. "Where's your father?"
"He's on his way."
"So you're here alone?" she asked again.
A loud, frightening cry from my mom jolted us both and Doctor Duncan.
"I'll see you later dear. It'll be okay." she said and ran through the doors.
I slowly sat in the waiting area which was empty except for an old man who was dozing, sitting next to a little girl who was asleep in his arms. Soon Callum strode into the waiting room.
'C-Callum?" I mumbled . " What are you doing here?"
He ran his hand through his hair for about the millionth time and my Grandma and father stepped in behind him.
"Dad! Grandma!" I cried.
Grandma gave a light hug and went to sit on one of the sofas and continued knitting a scarf. She looked worried. Then again, who wouldn't be nervous when their child was pushing a watermelon sized object out of a pin-sized hole.
Dad smiled nervously at me and paced the waiting room.
Callum sat in the seat next to mine. " You okay?"
"I guess." I whispered, picking at an imaginary scab on my arm. " As okay as I can be when my mom's probably dying in there."
"She'll be fine." Callum replied, holding my hand in his.
"And you're some expert, huh?" I mumbled.
"Well, my mom had my sister Dania and my brother Antonio. I was 2 when Dania was born and 6 when Antonio was and I was in the hospital for both of their births. So yeah, I'm probably an expert."
"But what if something happens to my mom... I mean your mom and mine are different." I whispered.
"Trust me.. Just trust me." he said.
And that night, I fell asleep in Callum's arms.

"Honey... Axel, wake up."
Dad was standing over me and shaking me.
"Come on, we have a surprise for you." he said, lifting me into an upright position.
I stood up, even though my legs were wobbly, and hurried to the hospital room my mom was in. Grandma was standing next to her bed. Mom was sitting up and smiling as she held a tiny baby in her arms. Grandma was holding one too! :O TWINSIES
"Oh my gosh!" I whispered.
"The one I'm holding is a girl." Mom said, smiling. " Grandma has the boy."
She beckoned me to come closer to the bed and I sat on the edge next to her. She shifted the pale pink blanket from across the baby's face. She had a tiny round face with huge cheeks and tiny dimples in the centre of each. She had a thin layer of red hair on her head and she had a huge grip on my finger the minute I tried to touch her.
'Isn't she beautiful?" mom asked, breathlessly.
"And this one's so handsome." Grandma piped in from where she was standing. " He looks just like his sister!"
"We still haven't named them yet..." Dad mumbled.
"I wanted Axel to choose." Mom said.
"Me?"
"Yes. I know how creative you are.." Mom whispered, smilng at me.
"Well, the girl could be Aria and the boy... Duncan, ;cause Doctor Duncan delivered him." I whipered, stroking the Aria's thin hair.
"Those names are perfect." Grandma whispered, placing a sleeping Duncan into his little incubator thingy.
Mom handed a little bottle to me and carefully placed Aria into my arms. " Feed her for me?" she asked.
"Sure." I whispered, not wanting to disturb Aria. She had her tiny thumb in between her beautiful baby lips and slowly, I sat in a huge armchair with her and lighty removed her finger and placed the bottle in her mouth. She immediately began drinking the milk inside.
Doctor Duncan strode in.
"How are the babies doing?" she asked.
'Aria and Duncan are doing great." Mom spoke up from the bed where she had been resting.
"Oh, I see you've picked out names." Dr.Duncan said smiling.
She beckoned for my father and I to come outside the room. I placed Aria, who was now asleep into her incubator.
"You guys can leave in a couple hours. The babies need to know their home." she said.
"Understood." we both said.
We returned to the room, where Grandma had already began packing mom's things into a small bag.
"Doc says we can leave whenever mom's ready." I said,
"I feel fine." she replied sitting up in her bed. " We can go now."
"I have to go sign some papers." Dad said.
He left and mom began changing her clothes. She pulled on a long, flowing dress. Grandma put the babies in matching purple and green outfits. SO CUTE!
Dad had come back by that time and helped to transport them to the car. Grandma and mom went to help him. I returned to the waiting room.
"Log." I whispered. " Wake up, bonehead."
He mumbled in his sleep.
"GET THE FUCK UP BRUH!" I yelled.
Luckily, the waiting room was virtually empty except for a deaf old woman.
He rolled out of the chair and stretched.
"Where..am I?" he asked.
"In the hospital you dummy." I responded.
"Did I hurt myself that bad?" he asked, like the ass he is.
"Dude, stop chatting crap and get your lazy ass off the floor. We're going home."
"Where's your mom?" he asked again, standing up and brushing off his jeans.
"She's in the car with Dad, Grandma and the twins."I said.
"Twins? Woah." he said, putting his arm around my waist.
"Shove off bruh." I said, pulling his hand off. "I'm a big sis now. I have to set an example so be proffesional and mature."
"Goofball..." he muttered under his breath,
"Rapist..." I muttered back.
We both burst out laughing and he held my hand, let my to the car and we rumbled on our way home.
