Yangcha stares at the priestess.
Tanya thinks hard. She needs to find a way to free her people without confronting Saya too much. He is hurt and would just lash out at her. She feels sorry for him. They have been friends.. if only..
"Don't be. He would use it against you." Yangcha interrupted. Tanya looked surprised. " I can see it in your face, " the warrior said flatly.
"Am I that transparent?" Tanya asked. She was able to fool Tagon, Taelha and some of the people here in Arthdal. Her front of bravery was slipping. It must be this place.
The warrior just looks at her.
"Do you think I can't do this?" she asked incredulous. "Ha! I am Tanya, of the Wahan tribe. I am guided by the White Wolf... " she trailed off as she saw the warrior walking steadily towards her.
"What's wrong ... with you?" she stammered as the warrior stopped inches from her. He lowers his head to Tanya's face.
"Youuuu stop there. I mean it." Tanya said nervously. He gets so close she could touch his face if she wanted. What??? She was shocked where her thoughts were going.
"You have to do better than that," Yangcha thought. He was finding the changes of expression intriguing. She is.. interesting.
"I will tell Tagon about this," she stuttered.
The warrior looks unruffled.
"Try again, he isn't here. Its just empty threat for anyone who wants to attack you now," Yangcha said pointedly.
Tanya finally understood. He was testing her. She felt some relief and ... disappointment. She hid that thought.
"I can curse you," Tanya said bravely. The warrior raises his eyebrow. That she can do. Mugwang is proof of that.
"Have you already?" Yangcha thought softly. He straightened. He can't take his eyes off her.
Tanya looked at the warrior questioningly. She was about to ask him when a knock announced her callers for the day. Yangcha bowed and returned to his post.
The day went on smoothly despite Tanya's worries. No sign of Saya either. Tanya resisted the urge to go storming to Saya's office. After a few instructions to Mubaek, she feels her people are safe. But still. She felt so restless. Tanya starts walking unconsciously and reaches the burning fire.
"Great Mother.." she thought.
She steps into the water. She closes her eyes. Tanya feels the air, the wind, the sound of birds above. She starts swaying to the sound, moving effortlessly in the water, the sound of splashes mixing with the swish of her gown.
"Guide me please, great mother..."
Her movements go faster and faster, her mind going blank. She concentrates hard, waiting for some message from above. Tanya's dance finally stops and she opens her eyes.
She sees him..
The deakan warrior.
Yangcha was fascinated. He didn't see the dance performed by the priestess before when she was first announced to be the descendant of Asa Sin. It was surreal. She was like a swan, so gracefully playing with the water and the bird chirping happily to her movements.
"Beautiful..", Yangcha thought. She would have heard him.
She did. She heard her heart beating loudly too.
