TWENTY TWO

They all stare at each other.

"Stay here. I will check the area if there are enemies," Yangcha instructs then leaves. Tanya nods and explains about the situation.

"What, somebody is following you? Why are you here anyway?" Chaeeun looks at the female beside Tanya and gasps.

"Yes she is a Neanthal. And we are here because I am searching for the others like her. Mubaek told me they live near the Plains of the Moon," Tanya explained. Tanya saw Chaeeun flinch at the mention of Mubaek.

The sisters share a knowing look. Chaeeun takes a deep breath. "We know those Neanthals, but we haven't seen them since we hid here." Chaeeun said evasively.

"But why are you here? Are you hiding from anyone?" Tanya looked at both of them confused. There's something they are not telling.

"Because she is like me ..." Ayame says looking at Noonbyul. Blue eyes glare at blue eyes in the little light. Tanya looks aghast.

The moment was interrupted by whimpering from Ayame's back. All look at her release the wrap revealing the young child earlier!

"You took him?" Tanya almost shouted. There are so many surprises she can't keep up.

Ayame lifts her chin defiantly. "Of course, he is family! I will not leave him." She hugs the child and give him a piece of bread.

"But that is the old lady's grandson. That makes your mother ..." Tanya is beginning to have the headache.

"My mother is one of Yamato's wives. He wants a child from her to make sure his clan will be strong," Ayame spats angrily.

The child looks at them apprehensive. His eyes start to gleam .. purple. Ayame comforts the baby.

Tanya closes her eyes. This is turning out to be a big mess.

Yangcha appears and looks confusely at the child.

"Don't ask." Tanya says irritated.

"A lot of men outside. They are still searching." Yangcha said frustrated. It would be difficult to fight them with all these females to protect.

"They want the baby," Tanya answered.

"Why?" Yangcha asks looking back at the entrance.

"Because that child is Yamato's son," Tanya said tiredly. The plan to return might be impossible now. Maybe Tagon is already informed about this.

Yangcha comes to the same conclusion. "We have to get away fast, before more come."

"How? You said they are still there."

The women look back and forth between  Tanya and Yangcha.

"You can talk with each other?" Chaeeun asks surprised.

"Yeah you can read his mind?" Ayame asks clearly impressed.

It was not the time for silly issues. She nods hurriedly. "What's the plan?"

"I can fight!" Noonbyul says determined. She was feeling a bit better now after what Chaeeun did. And she made sure to keep practicing her sword skills. She grimly thinks of her mission.

Chaeeun mentions another way out of the cave. Yangcha decides it better the women go there while he tries to distract the men on the other side. Tanya refuses afraid for him.

"Tanya please. It would be the best plan. It can provide enough leverage for all of you to get away," Yangcha explains patiently. He signals Ayame and the others to start moving. He and Tanya were left behind.
