The wind blew through my hair, my wings fluttering against chills of air. End, the pack huntress, and close friend of mine, glided beside me. We had been told by my father, the pack Alpha, to scan the area for enemies.

"I don't see anything, do you, Shasta?" End asked me as we flew.

"Not a thing." I replied, breathing loudly in boredom. End rolled her eyes playfully,

"Race you back to camp!" she shouted, diving and quickly making her way back. I took the challenge and streamed by her, she was soon neck in neck with me.

End ended up first making a bound to the ground, she smirked at me, I heaved and ruffed her to the ground in 'ruff play' as my pack called it.

As we brawled pawsteps snapped us from play, we quickly stood up to see my father's angry face.

"When will you two learn to GROW UP." he barked, yet still keeping humility. I put my head down,

"I'm sorry father, it won't happen again." I said. End glanced at me then looked at the ground.

"It better not, you both are about to get your destinys, I would not ruin it with bad actions." my father said, his large white wings put closely to his sides. End and I knew exactly what he meant, for destinys are important to my pack.

It is where my pack's elder, Zara, tells a young wolf's future or special thing that may become of the wolf. Many of my friends and I will be a part of the 'destiny seeking' this moon cycle. Suddenly, my father cut me from thought.

"End, you go back to your den." he ordered.

"Yes, Alpha." End said, looking at me then leaving to her family den. I put my tail between my legs and tried to walk off, but my father kept me back.

"I must talk to you." he said blandly. As he turned intending on me to follow him, I sighed and of course followed. He stopped on the mound the protector wolves usually sat to watch for enemies. I sat beside him looking off at the vast pine trees.

"Your mother would had loved to see how beautiful of a young wolf you've become." my father started. I frowned remembering my mother fondly and how she sacrificed her life to me, to die at the paws of an enemy pack.

"You must know how much you are to be seen as." he continued, changing to my destiny.

"Your not a pup anymore." he said looking into my eyes.

"I know..." I replied. He put a wing around me,

"So many expect much from you." he said.

"Whence I die, you shall be Alpha." he went on. I nodded barely at ease.

"I hope, you understand this Shasta." he said, in a serious tone. I groaned,

"Geez, I know father!" I barked, pushing away from him. He shook his head,

"I'm not sure you do." he said, in concern. I growled,

"Quit, I can't take hearing this!" I yelled flying away from him and to the sky.
