Author Notes

This was a challenge to myself. The idea came from a conversation I had with DementedSonneteer. He said he wanted to get married at Burger King and I told him to write a sonnet about it...then said no don't, I will write it for you...he warned me it is hard, but I was not afraid...then I actually tried...he was right, it was hard, but here it is...

The Wedding

Here comes the bride, all dressed in lacy white,
There stands the groom, black-clad in fresh-pressed tux.
Best man, bridesmaids, guests crying at the sight,
Of two as one, pronouncing vows of love.

The smell of fries, in hot oil, sizzling crisp,
The guests line up, to clerks, their orders give,
And booths are filled, with people, crowded thick,
The wedding party, joy, today, love lives.

A marriage born, of love and trust, today,
Mid-meal, the groom stands up and turns to speak,
His cup held high, he has something to say,
His new wife gets a blush upon her cheek.

This day has been a wonderful success,
At Burger King, their vows, they did confess.
