A day after the new year, the bookstore reopened. Gia, Mariska, and all employees were back with their respective activities. In the afternoon, Gia was sorting out the books on the bookshelf whe she heard her phone ring. She immediately took it out from her pocket.
Sebastian
Come to my home now.
The last time Gia met Seb was at the Abu Dhabi GP. Since then, they never met again. She knew that he had some events to attend on winter break. She also thought that he spent his free time with Bernadette.
His message was that short, but it made Gia worry that something was happening. She didn't even know that Seb had been in Vienna. So, she texted her reply immediately.
Georgia
Okay, Seb, just wait. I'll be there soon.
Gia was immediately looking for Mariska, as she had to tell her that she would leave. "Mariska!" she called her right after she found her next to history bookshelf.
Mariska smiled at her. "What's up, Gia?"
"I, erm, Seb asks me to come to his house."
Mariska frowned. "What's going on?"
Gia shrugged. "I don't know. He said nothing more. I'm afraid that there's something important."
"Okay, just go. Don't worry, I can handle this," Mariska said, referring to their job at their bookstore.
"Thanks. I'll take my bag upstairs."
Gia ran a little to her office room to take her bag. She made sure that everything was inside it before she left the bookstore. She also didn't forget to wear her coat. She stopped a taxi in front of the bookstore. She didn't forget to tell the address to the driver.
Around 15 minutes later, Gia had arrived at Seb's house. She found the same car he used when he attended Mariska's wedding parked there. She pressed the doorbell and it didn't take too long for her to wait until the door opened.
"Hi, Seb. How are you?" Gia gave him a quick hug.
Seb smiled after he pulled away from her. "I'm fine, Gia. Come in."
Seb locked the door after Gia came in. Then, he invited her to sit at the guest room. Gia took her coat off and put it on a couch. "How was your Christmas in Heppenheim?" she asked as she knew that he celebrated it with his family there.
"Yeah, it was always amazing to spend time with my family."
Just after he answered Gia's question, Seb sighed heavily before he fell silent. She felt like he was miles away although he was sitting next to her. "Seb, is there something that you want to tell me? I feel like there's something important."
He remained silent. Gia felt worried because of his sudden change of expression. "Seb, please, what's going on?" she asked once again while rubbing his shoulder gently.
"She cheated on me."
That was only one sentence, but it successfully made her very shocked. The woman he meant was none other than Bernadette, his girlfriend. Why? How?
"On the 21st of December, I attended the Ferrari Convention and there was a Christmas dinner a day after which becomes an annual tradition in my team."
"Yes, you've told me all about that," Gia remembered that Seb had told her that on their chat.
