Chapter 28: Lemuria

As the Aronax came into Australian water, Ant smiled.

"We have now entered New Zealand territory!" Ant smiled looking upon the map in front of him.

"Mhm" Kaiko smiled returning the smile to Ant.

"The Tonga trench is only a few kilometres away from here, should we take the rover and the knights?" Will asked turning towards his wife besides him.

"Yes, it would be much easier to go down into the trench rather than taking the Aronax down there" Kaiko replied as her hands relaxed on the controls.

"We'll take the rover, and Ant, Fontaine and Will can take the knights" Odette added on as Kaiko nodded.

"I claim the mimic knight Ant" Fontaine interrupted before Ant could say a word.

"But... fine I'll take the shadow knight" Ant huffed, Fontaine had promised for him to use the mimic knight on their next 'mission' in return for the leftover cookies- he was definitely going to get his revenge later.

Fontaine smiled as she stood from her seat, glancing to Nereus who had a huge smile too.

As the rover first dived under from the moon pool, the three knights follows behind closely,

"Keep your comms on kids" Will said as he pressed the button.

Jeffery too was in the Shadow Knight in the specially designed water tank and was clearly excited as Ant was.

"So what do you think, Lemurians are mermaids?" Ant exclaimed over the comms.

"Ant we've gone over this, mermaids don't exist" Fontaine frowned as she rolled her eyes

"Well technically we neither found any evidence that suggests that there are or aren't mermaids" Ant chimed

"Which means they probably don't exist" Fontaine sharply added

"But there is still a chance!" Ant smiled as he manoeuvred the shadow knight in front of Fontaine.

Seeing her frown Ant thought it would be best to prove it to someone who was an expert.

"So Nereus, what do you think?" Ant asked as he went towards the rover"

"Uh well Anteus, Lemurians aren't mermaids" Nereus chuckled.

"See, o told you Ant" Fontaine smiled "thank you Nereus"

Ant frowned "it still doesn't prove that mermaids doesn't exist" he huffed.

"Ok then" Fontaine smiled pleased she won the argument.

On the other hand Will and Kaiko sighed listening to their children arguing about mermaids.

As the trench approached, they began their dive.

"So what exactly are we looking for Nereus?" Fontaine asked over the comm.

"I'm not entirely sure Fontaine" Nereus admitted "perhaps something that looks big as a entrance to a city would be a good start?"

"That works" Fontaine sighed.

Ant held the vase in his hands with the empheychron inside , he let out a sigh. They had split up hoping it would help to save time, but they had been searching for hours yet the still had found nothing.
