Grabbing my violin and Katie's hand, we headed out of the forest and to a nearby boardwalk. It was crowded as people pushed and shoved their way through each other. Katie held my hand tight as she tried not to get pushed away from me. As soon as we made it through a clearing, I took us by the railing of the boardwalk. Katie sat down on a bench near where I was setting up.
I had the case of my violin open and took a minute to gather up nerve to play. I finally started to play a sweet and gentle tune. Some people passed and stared for about 5 minutes. Katie swayed her head to the tune. At least she liked it. I smiled at her as I continued to play. I got about $5.50 in money. I peaked over to see how Katie was doing and it seemed she had gotten bored fast.
I stopped and took a break, walking over to Katie and gave her the money. "Go play something, you seem bored Katie." I said as I smiled. Katie replied with a dry and kind of weak voice. "Hungry, thirsty, and bored..."
"I forgot, you must've not ate for awhile since I found you..." I sighed but reassured her. "I'll get us more money I promise you." I went back over to play again. An hour must of passed and I had some more money. This time $20 besides the $5.50 we already had, so we had $25.50. I stopped and closed my case. "Alright, let's get you something to eat and drink."
Katie nodded in agreement to this. I got her a blueberry muffin and some chocolate milk, which she seemed to enjoy. After having something to fill her up, she was ready for some fun. We went over to some sort of balloon pop game. I spent $15 on this game, winning Katie this large pink bunny toy, one she could use as a pillow and snuggle into. $5 was all that we had left. I had to buy one last thing for her, a blanket. This kid is young and I can't have her freezing at night.
We went to this one store on the boardwalk that had hats, shirts, swim suits, ect. I looked in the entire store until I came across this huge quilt blanket, big enough for the both of us. I looked at the price of it and it was way more than what I had. I kept looking till I came across another blanket. This one was a small fluffy grey one, big enough and long enough for Katie's comfort. It was $4 which was enough. I bought it and soon enough we went back to our camp.
