Starting A Shelter

The morning sun was shining on our faces, waking us up. I glanced at Katie, who seemed well rested. I didn't know what was in for us today, but all I knew was that I had to start building us shelter. I made sure to work extra hard to get some more money for us. It was a long day and before I knew it, it was evening.

I sat there on one of the benches and counted the money that sat in my violin case. This time I made $50. It was enough to get some supplies. As Katie and I were leaving the boardwalk, we bumped into that girl I saw the other night. I could guess she was coming here to get herself some money. She gave us a scoff of disgust as she walked around us.

I tugged Katie along as she was looking back at the girl. "Who is she?" Katie whispered to me. "I'm not sure and I don't think I want to know her." I responded. We continued to walk till we came to a hardware store. I got some tools and some wooden beams for a start. As soon as we got back to our camp I started building. I only got as far as building some steps for a stairway, due to the evening now becoming night time.

As we laid there on the flooring of the forest, Katie popped me a question. "Yumi... Will we ever have a big family one day, or will it just be us?" She asked curiously. "Well... Um... I'm not sure. It would be nice to have a family again." My elf like ears pointed up to the sound of family.

"But... Yea, we'll have a big family, Katie." I reassured her since she sounded hopeful to want to have a big family. As I finished speaking, I rolled over to see Katie was already fast asleep. I smiled and gave her a kiss goodnight. As I was about to drift off to sleep, I sat up fast and my ears twitching like a rabbit's nose. I could hear something, the rustle of bushes to the far right, on Katie's side.

I slowly got up to see what or who it was. To my surprise, It was her. That girl we saw who preforms at the boardwalk. What was she doing out here in the forest? My curiosity got the better of me as I followed her. I shortly came to a halt as she stopped in her trails. Quickly, I hid behind a tree as I peaked around it to see what she was doing.

She started to speak, but I couldn't understand the language that she spoke. As I watched before my eyes, there right in the forest, out of no where a glow of blue light appeared. What was she, a witch like my mother would tell me stories of them? Though, of course she told me not all witches were bad, some were good.

I kept watch as this magic happened. All of a sudden, a face appeared in this blue light. The girl spoke, "And when can I come back home, father?" She scoffed sounding disgusted. So this person she spoke to was her father? I leaned in closer to try and get a better look. Her father spoke, having a deep and grizzly voice like a bear.

"You know you disobeyed the rules Roxanne-" She butted in rudely. "It's Roxy-" The male growled at her. "You are not allowed back in the underworld, so stop with the calls." He sounded very harsh towards her but I couldn't feel bad, considering the girl had a rude attitude towards her parent. The portal disappeared into a mist as the girl made a sound of anger and annoyance.

Bunk! I lost my balance as I fell over from trying to get a closer look. The girl swished around to face me as I got startled and backed up from her. She took out a dagger of some sort and pointed it to me. My eyes widened with fear. What was she gong to do to me?
