I stared frantically at Natsu, not knowing what to say or what to do because I was terrified. But why? I know he would never hurt me. Or would he? He acts like this because of me, if I could take care of myself, then we wouldn't be in this situation. I took in a deep breathe and closed my eyes. 

"In the constellation I pursue, I call thy as the celestial princess of the Stars, amongst the spirit friends that have conveyed to protect me, to come forth and lend me your power!" I laid my head back and felt my body go completely numb. I arched my back at the pleasant sensation while being transformed into all the spirits. My nails grew black and my hair stretched to the ground with that bright elegant burgundy red. I stood up feeling the ropes release my wrists and ankles and felt my body glow into a golden ball. I rose my arms slowly, revealing naked parts of my skin. I took a step forward and starting from my bare toes, the magic that surrounded my figure, shrouded my body in one of the sacklike print dresses, also pink, with baby-blue flowers, that I'd bought off a street rack in Japan. I would have preferred the big red roses or the orange dahlias: this dress made me look like an expanse of wallpaper. But I wanted something inconspicuous. This outfit projected from my thoughts and imagination on what I wanted to look like and what I wanted to be. I slowly opened my eyes as the light disappeared, and looked directly at Zeref.

"Oh? What do we have here? You are an interesting one." He laughed hysterically and walked towards me.

"Don't lay a finger on Natsu." Zeref's lips stretched wide and stopped short. He raised his hand and snapped his fingers.

"GAH!!!" Natsu choked and blood spilled out of his mouth onto his chin.

With one look the verdict was told. I had been reflecting longer than usual, past the point at which I always came back with an apology. Zeref's face fell as I locked my eyes on his. They were the ones I reserved for my friends that I have guarded, a hateful distain. But it was more than that. There was a tenseness I wasn't even trying to mask. Zeref backed away, nothing about this was making sense, not my curling fists or the anger that radiated from my skin. He was a mere five inches from face and he grabbed it intensely. I didn't scream, I didn't run, I just stared into his cold eyes.

"Not acting so tough now princess?" I smiled and his faded away in an instant. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion not understanding the humor I was getting out of this. I grabbed his wrist that held my chin and laughed in a low grumble. Insanity stole into my mind like a deranged thief, taking what was important to me, adding new dangerous ideas, seeding a new personality and muddling up the rest. New sparks of ideas that once I would have dismissed as bizarre started to grow roots, deep roots, they started to make sense in one revolutionary eureka moment after another, cascading out of control, luring me further and further from myself I once knew, until I was so deep that I no longer recognized the room around me, paths twisted and turned out of sight, so dense were the walls, my mind followed one path wildly after another, making new connections in my new distorted reality, after a while I had trodden the new paths so much that they formed an inescapable maze, a prison without walls. I put his arm aside and squeezed it. 

"Don't ever touch Natsu. Or, I'll break you." I smirked at the pleasant moment of being able to finally save the ones I truly care for. The room was silent and all you hear is the breaking bone of the one's wrist who had grabbed my face.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" He screamed in agony. Usually I feel sympathy for those who get hurt, but this time it was different. I loved this. And I wanted to see him break even more.

"Scream more Zeref, I want to hear your cries! I want to feel those bones break in my hands." I grabbed my face and tilted my head like a crazy person. He looked at me with frightened eyes and backed away.

"Tsk. I'm not letting the likes of you kill me." Now that's what I like to hear. Desperation. I laughed hysterically loud and walked his way.

"I want to hear you plea for your life. Plea to be spared! Oh how I wonder if you even have a heart, shall we find out? Let's look inside that body of yours." I grabbed a knife that nestled between two napkins and touched the tip.

"This is sharp, this will do." My smile wouldn't fade away. I was truly enjoying this, I wanted to torture him, and turn his skin inside out.

"L-lucy, yamato.....please. This isn't you." A voice echoed in my head. I dropped the knife and grabbed my head. But Zeref hurt everyone dear to me. Even Natsu and I want him to pay for his sins, I want to be the one doing it! 

"Lucy, don't ever change for anyone. You are perfect the way you are!"  Came back into my memories. Natsu... Tears prickled into my eyes and I grabbed my chest. 

"You're right. I'm not a monster. I'm Lucy Heartfilia!" 

"You're pathetic." I looked at Zeref and without warning everything turned black.

"LUCY, NO! LUCY WAIT! LUCY......NOOO!!!!" I opened my eyes and grabbed my stomach. The blade was sharp enough to cut flesh as if it posed no resistance. At once a fountain of red came from my wound, the ebb and flow in time with a terrified heart, killing me all the faster. I looked up to see that baby faced man once more. The one who punctured my gut. I smiled, but this time, it was the smile of defeat. I looked over at Natsu and tears spilled over my cheeks. 

"Thank you Natsu...for everything. I...love..y..o..u......." My world began to spin and my feeling in my hands and feet became numb. 

"LUCY DON'T LEAVE ME PLEASE LUCY. NO!! NO!....NO..noo!" I heard Natsu's cries in distance. I just felt really tired, really drained. I needed to sleep, I needed to rest.. for tomorrow.. for...tomorrow.. why tomorrow? Why not now? I tried moving, I tried with all my strength but it wasn't budging...tomorrow...
