Where am I?

I slowly cracked open my one eye, then the other. Bright light flooded the clean, white room from a large window opposite of me.

"Miss Saori."

"Yes?"

I blinked in confusion, keeping my eyes squinted as the light gave me a headache, and I turned my head slowly to the side to see a young man with brown hair and eyes staring at me.

"She's awake."

"Are you sure, Seiya? You made that mistake twice now." Another masculine voice answered with a snarky tone.

"Well, unless her eyes are supposed to be open when she's in a coma, I think so, Ikki." Seiya, if that was the man's name, turned his head to give someone a glare over his shoulder before looking back at me. "Can you hear me?"

I nodded and the room was silent for a moment.

"Yup, she's awake!" Seiya grinned triumphantly.

"What..." I tried to speak, but broke into a fit of coughing after feeling how dry my throat was. Seiya reached over, along with another set of hands from my other side, and helped me sit up before the other hands gave me a glass of water. I took a couple gulps before coughing again. "Where am I?"

"The Guraad Foundation Hospital." I looked up from my water cup to see a young woman who couldn't be much older than Seiya sitting in a chair next to said man. She gave off a calming and kind aura, and I found myself relaxing despite the situation I have seemed to find myself in. "You were brought here after you were found unconscious in the backwoods of the Kido property."

I glanced around at the people in the room. There were five young men, and the one woman. "Who are you...?"

I saw Seiya and another man with green hair and eyes share a look of surprise before the young woman answered.

"I am Saori Kido. These boys are my knights."

"Okay..." I tapped my finger on the glass a couple times, making a quiet Ping! noise that sounded loud in the silence.

"May I ask who you are?"

I opened my mouth to answer, but I froze.

Who am I?

"I... don't know..." I stared at my glass as the atmosphere in the room became one of horror. "I don't remember anything..."

Everyone was silent for a moment before Saori spoke again.

"Well, then we will leave and let you rest. You seem to have had a rather traumatic experience before you were found."

I blinked in confusion at her before I noticed that my arms were wrapped entirely in bandages, along with what felt to be my torso, lower legs, and neck. I stared at my arms as Saori left the room with the men following behind. The green haired man from before gave me a kind smile before closing the door behind him, leaving me in total silence.

I stared at my arms before seeing something move out of the corner of my eye. My head darted up automatically only to realize that it was just my reflection in the mirror on the wall.

That was what I looked like...

Beige skin, pale purple eyes, dark brown hair that went down mid-back, and a small frame. I couldn't be more tall than five feet.

Almost my entire body was covered in bandages. I could clearly see the bandages that went from my shoulders all the way up to my jaw. What made me blink was the birthmark on my forehead, partially covered by my hair (I had no bangs). I drew it back and looked at the mark that was so pale it was almost white. It was shaped like a four pointed star, with the side points just touching my eyebrows. There was a much smaller one off to the upper right of it.

"How odd..." I mumbled. I noticed a clipboard attached to the side of my bed and I leaned over and grabbed it, reading the info on the front.

Name: Unknown
Age: 17
Height: 5'0"
Weight: 96 lbs.
Cause of Hospitalization: Unknown
Diagnosis: Retrograde Amnesia
Notes
In medical coma for 14 days.

"Retrograde Amnesia...?"

"It means you can't remember any of your former memories, but you seem to remember what everything else is."

I jumped with a small yelp and looked up to see the same green haired man from before standing near the door, one hand on the wall. I hadn't even heard him come in.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you."

"It's fine." I mumbled, putting the clipboard back and putting my hands in my lap. He moved to sit in one of the two chairs.

"I'm Shun, by the way."

"Nice to meet you." I answered automatically. "I wish I could give you my name."

"Don't be. That's not your fault." Shun smiled and patted my arm gently. I was surprised to notice I felt no pain. Shun seemed to read my mind. "You're practically healed by now. All cuts and bruises, no broken bones or anything. I say you got lucky judging by how roughed up you were when we found you."

"Oh..." I paused and looked at my arm again. "How bad... was I?"

Shun hesitated for a moment, probably trying to find the right words. "You... It was pretty bad. It was snowing, and... it was red for a good couple of yards around you. You seemed to collapse from exhaustion and blood loss. We followed your tracks as much as the snowstorm that was currently coming in would allow, but there was no one else besides you within a decent radius. We brought you here and have been standing guard waiting for you to wake from your medical coma."

"You've been... guarding me?" I looked at him wide eyes. "Why?"

"You have incredible Cosmo, and Miss Saori thinks that someone wanted you dead because of it."

"Cosmo...?"

"Right, you wouldn't know." Shun took my hand in his, his touch soft and gentle, and I watched in amazement as a magenta aura began to form from our joined hands. I felt something, like a small child tugging on my hand, and a lavender aura joined the magenta. I couldn't stop staring, even after the aura faded away. Shun chuckled, but didn't let go of my hand and just let our hands rest on the edge of the bed.

"Oh..." I suddenly knew. I knew what Cosmo was. I knew I had it, and that I could control it if I worked hard enough. "Thank you, Shun..."

He smiled and nodded, saying nothing, though nothing really needed saying.

"Don't you need to go?" I glanced at the window and noticed the bright light becoming an orange color as time went on.

"No." Shun shook his head and smiled that kind smile again. "It's my turn to watch you overnight to make sure whoever hurt you never comes back to finish the job."

"So you'll be here all night?"

"Yes."

I slowly moved to laying on my left side, facing the wall with the mirror and Shun. He never let go of my hand, even when he stretched over to turn off the lights in the room.

"Goodnight, Shun. Thank you..."

"Goodnight."

I stared at my reflection in the mirror for a moment, eyes glued to the birthmark, before I closed my eyes and let the comforting darkness lull me into sleep, with Shun's touch following.
