Happy Turkey Day everyone!

"Jolene!" I called again as the flames continued to devour the mansion behind me. I know Shun and Ikki told me to stay outside, but I couldn't knowing that my friend was in danger. "Jolene!"

"Yume!"

I jerked around and bolted towards the call, dodging around a flaming beam that had fallen.

"Jolene!" I called the moment I spotted her. She was okay, but she was unfortunately pinned by another fallen beam.

"Help me!"

"I got you!" I grabbed the beam and tried to lift it, but instead I screamed in pain as my muscles strained to no avail.

"Yume, you know what? Just go!" Jolene gave a gentle push in the leg. "I'm not worth it!"

"Anyone I call friend is worth it!" I spat back, refusing to let go of the beam. I was cut off from trying again by a woosh behind me.

Jolene screamed as I turned to see the fire coming closer, way faster than before. I whipped around and grabbed the beam again, letting out a wild scream and feeling a rush of unknown power before the beam went flying down the hall. I grabbed Jolene's hand and dragged her up and down the hall, with her letting out startled yelps along the way.

"We gotta go!" I dragged her into my room further down the hall, that odd power still flowing through me, and I snatched a backpack and started throwing in handfuls of clothes from my dresser. Even in this terrifying moment, I still couldn't help but feel sad. This room was mine for only a few days, but it was my first home since my hospitalization. It made me sad that it was going to be destroyed.

"Go to the balcony!" I ordered, and Jolene bolted through the doors, which were still open from my escape attempt earlier. I slung the backpack over my shoulder and ran to the doors. On the way, I spotted the periwinkle and white cat plushie on the floor where it had fallen from it's shelf. Without thinking, I snatched it up and held it close to my chest as I joined Jolene on the balcony.

"Yume! Jolene!" We both looked down to see Hyoga standing in the snow below. "Jump! Now!"

"What? Why?" Jolene called back down, but I saw it before she did.

"There are more coming!" I yelled when I spotted a group of Saints charging through the woods towards the burning mansion. I looked behind and saw the fire begining to devour my room. "Jump!"

Jolene nodded and jumped off the railing, right into Hyoga's arms. He set her down and caught me as I jumped too.

"Let's go! The others are already waiting!" Hyoga lead us away from the mansion, using the smoke to hide us from the eyes of the charging enemy. As we walked further away from the fire, I felt the unknown power slowly fade away.

"Where's the guy from before?" I asked quietly as we slowed to a walk once we were far enough away.

"Totalled. We gave him a good beating for kidnapping you." Hyoga answered, eyes scanning the surrounding forest for threats.

A loud click made me jump and turn my head to see Jolene loading a pistol that she pulled out of nowhere.

"Where did you get a gun?"

"I had it underneath my skirt. You never know." Jolene gave me a nervous grin and winked at me.

"That won't work on a Saint." Hyoga looked over his shoulder at her, but his voice was more gentle.

"No, but it'll make their eyes turn to me for a second, and that could be helpful later." Jolene shot back, hooking the pistol to her belt with the safety on.

Hyoga just shook his head and said nothing else, just turned around and kept walking. I held the cat plushie closer, and kept my head low. I put a hand into my pocket, and pulled out the necklace. It radiated some kind of comforting and warm aura, and I smiled and pulled the chain over my head. It felt right when it thumped against my chest.

Once again, I glanced at the surrounding forest for red eyes and black bodies...

But I saw none.
