"MY GOD IT'S SO FUCKING COLD!!"
"There she goes." I heard Seiya laugh behind me as I threw my hands in the air dramatically. I almost dropped the cat plushie, which I have now named Fuku ("Lucky"), and I scrambled to snatch it again before it hit the snow.
"Why do you still have that anyway?" Shun asked.
"I don't know. I just grabbed it." I shrugged and glanced over my shoulder at him. "It's not weird!"
"I don't think it's weird, after all, she was the only one who has spare clothes." Jolene said ahead of me. I heard her yelp in surprise a second later and before I could look ahead again, I tripped over her and fell sideways.
"Oh God! Oh God! Oh God!" I shrieked as I slid quickly down the hill. I tried to grab onto something, letting go of Fuku in the process, but I couldn't grab onto the icy snow.
Chains shot down and wrapped around me, knocking the wind out of me when I stopped. I looked up to see Shun kneeling on the edge of the melted path, one arm out with the chains, the other on the snow to keep balanced. Everyone else was either still in shock at what just happened or was stopped mid-movement to help me.
"You okay?" I heard Shun call down as I saw Saori help Jolene to her feet.
"Yeah! Thanks Shun!" I called back, and the chains began to haul me back up the hill. I held on tight until I was high enough to accept Seiya's hand in helping me up.
"I'm so sorry, Yume!"
"It's okay, Jolene. I know you didn't do that on purpose!"
"God if this shit keeps happening we're never going to get out of here..." Ikki muttered, but since the forest was totally silent, everyone heard him. I felt shameful at causing a scene, and Jolene looked the same.
"Lay off, Ikki!" Seiya challenged, his grip on my shoulder tightening. "They don't have Cloths to help with traction!"
"Yeah, yeah."
"Here you go, Yume." I looked up from the snow to see Fuku staring at me with black button eyes.
"Oh my God you got him too!" I took Fuku back and hugged Shun, who stiffened in surprise. "Thank you Shun!"
"N-no problem." Shun patted my back and stepped aside to let me get ahead of him again. I didn't see Shiriyu and Seiya give Shun smug looks with Hyoga giving small huffs of laughter behind them, nor did I see Shun's red face.
"How far is it to your home, Jolene?" Saori asked quietly.
"Not far. I recognize those mountains." Jolene pointed to some nearby mountain ranges. "I could actually cut off from here down the hill and get there and back faster than it will take for us all to go."
"I can go with you." I offered. "I'm the only one with a backpack, after all."
Jolene looked to Saori, who glanced between us before nodding. "Alright. The rest of us will keep going, so follow the path once you return here."
"Yes ma'am." We both replied. Jolene sat on the edge of the snow drift, turned around, and slid down the icy hill on her rear. I just jumped with a whoop and slid down on my feet laughing. I hit the ground long before Jolene and ran laughing.
"Hurry up Jolene or I'm gonna leave you behind!"
"Alright! Alright! Don't make too much noise!" I heard her race after me through the snow drifts. It was harder than when we had a fiery Phoenix Saint ahead of us, and my legs froze quickly, but we powered through.
"Waaaah!" I cried out as I burst through a big drift and suddenly fell face-first into a sidewalk. I was able to catch myself with my freehand, and let out a sigh of relief.
