It was Saturday, and I had woken up early for the weekend. Like I said before, the girls are noisy even in the morning.
I was about to get up, but as I slowly opened my eyes, I felt a sudden weight on my body.
Omo! It's Sana.
"Wake up. Why are you sleeping on me?" I pushed her gently.
"Morning, Jeongie... how did you sleep?" she asked, her face still heavy with sleep as she stayed right where she was.
"Hey, you’re heavy. Get off," I grumbled.
"So mean... wait, I just woke up," she pouted, rubbing her eyes.
"Get off."
"Jeongie, the holiday is almost over. Let's just sleep a little more," she murmured, resting her head on my shoulder.
"Sana-yah..." I sighed, my voice sounding dangerously close to a beg.
"Oh? You want a morning kiss?" She leaned her face in close to mine.
Seriously, what was wrong with her? I flipped our positions, pushing her back and pinning her against the bed.
"Is this what you want?" I asked, leaning down toward her.
Her eyes went wide with a mix of surprise and terror. This girl. She was just teasing me; she didn't actually have the courage to carry through with it.
"Unnie!"
The sudden voice startled me. Losing my balance, I tumbled right back down onto Sana.
I felt something soft against my lips. I was kissing Sana.
"Oops! Sorry, my bad!" It was Mina. She had seen me kissing Sana.
I scrambled off Sana’s body in a panic. "Wait, Mina! It’s not what you think!" I called out, but she had already vanished. Why on earth did she open the door without knocking first?!
I glanced back at Sana. She was still lying on my bed, staring up with a stunned expression.
"Come on..." I took her hand and pulled her up so she was sitting at the edge of the bed while I stood in front of her. "I'm sorry. It was an accident—I didn't mean to kiss you. I was just teasing you back, but Mina startled me and I lost my balance."
She still looked utterly dazed.
"From your reaction, it seems like you've never been kissed before. Am I right?"
She lowered her head and started fanning her face with her hand. It got hot in here all of a sudden, Sana thought to herself.
She looked shy... and undeniably cute. I couldn't help but feel a little amazed by her reaction.
"You don't need to answer that," I said with a tight smile, trying to keep things from getting awkward despite my own embarrassment. "Just explain to your friend what actually happened. I hope she doesn't get the wrong idea."
She nodded silently, avoiding my eyes, and slipped out of my room without another word.
Does she hate me now?
"Gah, damn it!" I ruffled my hair in frustration.
I needed a shower to cool off. But as I reached for the door handle, I froze and quickly pulled it shut again.
I had just caught sight of something that made me even more exasperated: a blonde-haired girl in the middle of changing, standing there in just a sports bra and shorts. Why on earth was she changing in the living room on the couch?!
Just yesterday, I actually felt comfortable living here. Now I just want to go home and cry.
I decided to hide out in my room until they disappeared to mind their own business.
Drrrp... drrrp... drrrp...
My phone buzzed on the bed. I walked over and picked it up. It was Jackson.
"Hello, Jeong! What's up?" Jackson greeted me enthusiastically.
"I'm not okay, bro... Living with girls is way too hard," I whined melodramatically. "Just now, one girl laid on top of me, and then I saw another one walking around in just a sports bra!" Only with my best friends could I be this silly.
"I know how tough it is for you," Jackson replied, matching my dramatic tone. "So why don't you just let me take your place?"
"No way, Casanova! They're way too precious for you," I scoffed, dropping the act. "Anyway, why are you calling?"
"I know you miss us, so let's hang out! We're in Seoul," Jackson said playfully.
"Us? You mean you're with Jimin and Taehyung? How long have you been here?"
"We just arrived, and we're heading back tomorrow."
"Where are we meeting?"
"At Hallyu Night! Come around 9 PM. Let's party before the new term starts."
"Wait, what time is it now?" I asked, confused.
"It's 7 PM."
I had been asleep since noon? Wow, time flew.
"Okay, wait for me. I'll get there around 10 PM."
"That's so late!"
"I literally just woke up, bro."
"Hurry up, there's a special stage at 10. Don't miss it!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just wait for me," I said and hung up.
I just wanted to let off some steam, see my friends, and forget about my morning stress. I didn't care about any special stage.
To be honest, those troublemakers had invited me to a place that wasn't really my scene—a spot filled with booze, pretty girls, and wild nights. In my everyday life, I'm just nerdy Yoo Jeongyeon: simple clothes, thick glasses, and messy gray hair.
Tonight, though, I decided to shake things up. I put in blue contact lenses, styled my hair, and threw on a black t-shirt, tight black jeans, and a leather jacket. Once my boots were laced up, I was good to go. I hoped the girls were already asleep; I didn't want to run into them and leave their jaws on the floor... or rather, I just didn't want them seeing this side of me.
All the lights in the apartment were off, so they were out cold.
I grabbed a taxi to Hallyu Night and arrived in a matter of minutes. On my way inside, a few girls tried to talk to me, but I brushed past them. Girls only ever brought me trouble, so I preferred keeping my distance.
I eventually spotted my friends sitting at the bar. As I walked over, they called out to me.
"Our girl crush has arrived!" Taehyung yelled, wrapping me in a hug.
"What's up, bro?" I laughed, hugging Jimin and Jackson next.
"We're good!" Jimin smiled.
"Take a seat, Jeong," Jackson said, gesturing to the stool beside him.
I sat down between Jackson on my right and Jimin and Taehyung on my left.
"Want something to drink?" Taehyung asked.
"Get me a milkshake," I said, a little bashfully.
"Pfft... you still can't handle alcohol?" Jimin teased while Jackson and Taehyung burst out laughing.
"Hey! How much do you expect me to change in just one week?!" I snapped playfully. I couldn't drink alcohol at all—even a tiny sip made my head spin.
"I'm just messing with you, Jeong," Jimin said, patting my shoulder.
"Ha-ha, hilarious," I faked a laugh.
"Here you go," the bartender said, setting down my drink.
"Thanks."
"Guys, the special stage is about to start!" Jackson called out.
"What kind of special stage?" I asked.
"A sexy dance performance," Jackson answered, grinning.
"Not interested," I said, turning back toward the bar while they turned to face the stage.
"Look at her! It hasn't even started yet and she already looks so hot," Jimin whistled.
"Come on, Jeong! You won't regret taking a peak," Jackson urged. I could hear the music starting up and the crowd cheering wildly.
"Damn, she's gorgeous. Look at that body!" Jimin shouted over the noise.
"Shut up, you pervert! You have Seulgi," I grunted, keeping my eyes fixed on my drink.
"I'm not a pervert, I'm a guy—it's natural! Just look for yourself. I bet you'll think the same thing."
"No, I won't."
"Prove it then," he challenged.
Taking a sip of my milkshake, I finally turned my head toward the stage.
"Yuck, disgusting!"
The moment I saw who was on stage, I accidentally sprayed a mouthful of milkshake right into Jimin's face.
"Momo?!"
