Bona… she was my best friend. We had been together since we were babies, living right next door to each other. Even though she was older, I always managed to go to the same school as her: kindergarten, elementary, middle school, and high school.

We were inseparable.

I spent almost every waking moment with her, right up until I began feeling something different. She was my first love—though I couldn’t tell you the exact moment that feeling took root.

I never told her how I felt. And then, without a single word, she left.

(Flashback)

Third Person P.O.V.

Jeongyeon was walking home from school with her friends—Jimin, Taehyung, and Jackson.

"Jeongyeon!" Seulgi called out, running up to her. It felt just like the day Jeongyeon had gotten into a fight and was suspended.

"What?" Jeongyeon asked, her voice entirely flat.

"I need to tell you something," Seulgi said. Jimin’s face darkened at the sight of her.

"Take your time. We’ll wait for you by the school gate," the boys said, leaving the two of them alone.

"Jeongyeon-ah." Seulgi wrapped her arms around Jeongyeon’s waist. Jeongyeon just stood there, letting her; she didn't have the heart to pull away.

"Do you remember when we first met?" Seulgi asked with a small smile, resting her chin on Jeongyeon’s shoulder.

"Not really," Jeongyeon murmured, knitting her brows as she tried to recall.

"I do. It was about a month or two after you started high school as a freshman. I was a sophomore. I was having a terrible day, and it started pouring rain. I didn't have an umbrella, so I slipped and scraped myself. I couldn't even stand up, and no one stopped to help. The whole world felt cold—until you came along, offered me your hand, and brought warmth back into my life."

Seulgi looked up into Jeongyeon’s eyes, framing Jeongyeon’s face with both hands. "I love you, Jeongyeon-ah."

Jeongyeon gently pulled Seulgi’s hands away from her face. "Are you crazy? Why are you confessing to me now, after everything that’s happened? Don't you care about your future?"

"I can't think straight," Seulgi wept. "What's done is done, and I can't hold this in any longer. I've loved you since the day we met. I want you to be mine."

"I can't. I love someone else."

"No! Please, give me a chance to make you love me. I can't bear to see you with anyone else!" Seulgi begged, tears streaming down her face.

"I said no. Don't cry in front of me—it's not my fault, and I never asked you to fall for me. I’ve only ever seen you as a friend, and that will never change."

Jeongyeon turned to walk away, but Seulgi dashed ahead, blocking her path.

"Get out of my way," Jeongyeon said, staring her down.

"I can't."

Jeongyeon tried to step around her, but Seulgi grabbed her wrist, pulled her close, and pressed her lips against Jeongyeon’s forcefully. Jeongyeon placed her hands on Seulgi's shoulders, trying desperately to push her off.

When Seulgi finally pulled back, she said softly, "Even if I can't be your girlfriend, at least my first kiss was yours."

Jeongyeon touched her own lips in disbelief, looking away. "You're truly insane."
