My vision was blurry.
The only think I could hear was the sound of crickets.
But crickets don't come out at day time?
I lifted my head up.
I started to touch the ground, my body and my face.
I'm still on the grass and I'm alive.
"I'm alive!"
I rubbed and opened by eyes.
It was indeed night time and I was still in the same place as I was before the tornado hit.
But how did I survive that?
My head was still pounding but I had to get up.
I was being childish and I started to make my way back home as I had no money with me.
But everything looked different.
The buildings surrounding me was all made out of metal when they are usually bricks.
The windows where all covered and they were all black.
Strange? I continued walking on, thinking that I might be hallucinating by the incident I had beforehand.
An hour later:
I was a minute way from my house and I had to sleep as soon as possible. My legs felt like they were about to snap off any time soon.
When I made it near my neighbourhood, I stopped in my tracks.
The whole area was empty. No houses, just flat land.
I was confused? Where all the houses knocked down? Am I in the wrong place?
I looked completely dazed and frustrated.
I looked down, staring at my feet and thinking of what to do next.
My thoughts were halted by someone dragging my arm and taking me to the back of an empty, abandoned shop.
She put her index finger near her lips and whispered for me to lie down flat on the ground.
I did so.
I was scared and frightened. I knew something wasn't right.
"Keep down low." She whispered.
I heard noises around me and people speaking.
One of the noises I heard was a taser being shot at someone. Probably someone that was hiding in the shop.
Thud
Thud
Thud
Stop.
There was no noise.
"All clear." One of the men spoke.
They all walked off, their footsteps echoing through the land.
I got up slowly to see if they have completely gone.
Empty.
Phew.
"Who are you." The unknown girl spoke.
I got up and cleaned the dust on my clothes with my hands.
"I'm Harlow and I'm lost but I don't know how."
" Oh, are you new here?"
I shrugged my shoulders. " I don't know".
"Then, where are originally from?"
"A town called Tarwich."
She gasped and looked at me with shock.
"Tarwich? That was this towns old name. Now, it's Horrandarshire."
I looked at her confused? "Horrandarshire? I've never heard of that before."
It sounds quite peculiar.
"Well, I live in Tarwich and this is my neighbourhood. But all the houses aren't here?"
She looked at me, like I was crazy. Then, she laughed.
But stopped when she observed by confused and annoyed look.
"Sorry but these buildings were knocked down decades ago. Even before I was born."
What? Have I time travelled?
And then, I asked one question which I feared the most.
"What year is this?" I looked at her, apprehensively.
" It's 2050. You really don't know much, do you?"
I was scared now. I am in the wrong year.
"Where I am from, it's 2019. And this town was named Tarwich but for me, it is named Tarwich. The buildings were all made out of bricks and not metal."
"You're playing with me! Time travel doesn't even exist."
My face was neutral and showed no expression.
She looked at me, squinting her eyes. "So you are telling the truth?"
I nodded. " I promise you, I am not lying. I don't know how to get home. Why would I lie about this? You can tell by my expression that I'm scared. Please, can you tell me why this place is empty?"
"Something happened decades ago and it links to the ruler of this city. I think it's best if I tell you when you are sat down. We have a lot of new rules and they are quite frightening. Curfew at 8pm, robot soldiers roaming through the streets with guns in their hands. They could kill you right now and they wouldn't get prosecuted. Good things as well, such as new technology, jet packs and lots more. Also, I am Stephanie." She stuck her hand out to me.
I shuck it.
"Stephanie was really tall. She also looked quite mature, so I was guessing around 20 years old."
I looked at her shocked. "That's my best friends name."
"Really? Didn't know she was the only one with that name? Strange."
I rolled my eyes. That was obviously sarcasm.
Stephanie walked up to a door and a scanner scanned her face.
"That's sick."
"Yep, technology is great. Sucks that yours wasn't as good."
"First of all, I'm only 17, so no need to think I am old. Secondly, we have technology and thirdly, we are the ones that brought you guys into this world, so act grateful, please." I said coldly, as she was really annoying.
I walked into her apartment. Her apartment was filled with technology. Not going to lie, it looked sick.
I sat down on the couch, next to her.
"So, where do you want to start?"
" I want to know everything."
