Roxie's POV
Sitting in the exquisite hotel suite Milo had booked for the both of us (one of which had two massive beds) I kept silent while slugging back the wine and shoveling the Chinese he had delivered, no matter how many times he'd begged to hear what had happened.
"C'mon now. I can see that you're highly bothered by whatever it was that happened. I'm here so you can talk it out, you know?" he stated, sounding slightly annoyed.
"They trash-talked my mother so I beat the shit out of both of them before - wait for it - Ezekiel showed up," I grunted while stabbing a piece of chicken like it'd wronged me. Milo stared at me blankly for a few seconds as he processed the information I'd just shared.
"Woah, hold on, pump the fucking breaks!" he shouted, setting his Chinese down on the coffee table in front of us. "Ezekiel as in club Ezekiel? As in 'pays you ten grand a night just to spend time with you' Ezekiel?" he blanched.
"Yes and I know," I shrieked, sharing his sentiments.
"What in the fuck is he doing here?" he demanded, eyes wide with shock.
"I guess this was the business meeting he was going to be leaving for. With Jedrek's company - which I royally fucked up before it even got started," I stated with a humorless chuckle.
"Does that mean your dad and everyone else knows about your job at the club now?" he asked apprehensively, knowing that I would be absolutely mortified if they ever found out.
"No, I didn't elaborate when they asked how Ezekiel and I knew each other," I said just as my phone began to ring. Should've just kept the damn thing turned off.
"It's Jedrek," I whispered. Milo watched as I held the phone in my hand and continued to let it ring until it sent him to voicemail.
"Well that was a highly productive phone call if I do say so myself," Milo joked. Even though I was growing increasingly tenser, I let myself laugh along with him. My laughter died out slowly as I began rubbing at my forehead. My phone vibrated in my hand as a voicemail notification popped up on the screen.
"Speaker," Milo demanded while staring at my phone intensely. I puffed up my cheeks before blowing out my air and nodding. I fiddled around a bit before pressing play on the message.
"Roxie, so help me God if you don't pick up your phone I'm going to-" his livid voice boomed through the room, but was cut off as another incoming call from guess who interrupted.
"You have to answer this one," Milo stated, clearly dying to know the reason behind his message and incessant calling as much as I was. I squeezed my eyes shut for a split second before stabbing the answer button.
"Hello?" I called out, my voice betraying me as it faltered in strength.
"Where the fuck are you?" Jedrek's chilling voice growled through the phone. My eyes widened at the anger in his tone.
"Milo and I got a hotel room. We're leaving in the morning," I stated matter-of-factly.
"What hotel?" he demanded, a ruffling noise ensuing on his end. What the hell is he doing?
"Jedrek, what do you want?" I asked bluntly, emotionally drained and unable to take any more for the day.
"Waylon's big mouth happened. He's never been able to keep a goddamn secret. I know all about the fucking club and about your relationship with Ezekiel. Now answer my Goddamn question. What hotel are you at?" he demanded once again, his voice rising towards the end of his question along with his anger.
