I was currently in first period... trying to bottle up my annoyance as the idiot behind me persistently kicked the leg of my chair.Knowing it was bothering me, she kicked noticeably harder, especially with more force whenever I'd shift in my seat. I was on the brink of snapping my pencil in half and stabbing her with it.
I imagined different ways I could possibly kill her, but then stopped myself by remembering this girl had to like me before June.
"Could you maybe... not do that?" I whispered as I glanced back in her direction. She was resting her face against her palm, looking bored out of her mind as she twiddled with her pencil in the other hand. Then she darted her eyes over to my face, and somehow it made me shrivel a little. "Why? Is it bothering you?" She asked in a clearly teasing tone, but I let it slip. "Yeah, a little." I admitted quietly. "Thanks for letting me know." She leaned in and whispered before continuing her kicking.
My chair was making noticeable noise, and students were looking back at me. And with Lisa's amazing acting skills, no one suspected she was doing anything. So I continued to sit there, face as red as a tomato and slightly jolting forward every time another kick hit.
I noticed people were now getting annoyed with me. Even Jisoo locked eyes with me and looked at me like there was something wrong with me, but I didn't mind it since it was her. "What's wrong?" She mouthed.
The bitch behind me is what's wrong.
I shook my head, "nothing." I mouthed back.
In a matter of seconds one of the other classmates Soyeon, slammed her hands to her desk and scowled.
"I hope you know how fucking annoying that is. What's the point of being here if you're going to do nothing but disrupt the class? I read the second sentence of the text in my head over fifty times trying to drown out the sound! Please, quiet!" She uttered the last bit through gritted teeth.
I groaned lowly, knowing and accepting I could do nothing but hope for Lisa to stop.
Everyone must hate me now.
The teacher just sat quietly behind her desk, not even bothering to give me a lecture or shush us. It must have been annoying her too.
I was kind of thankful she didn't do anything. I would much rather be embarrassed by another student than a teacher or person of authority... it just made me feel like I was in less trouble.
"I'm going to the bathroom. Don't be too loud." The teacher announced before exiting the room with ease, not even bothering to put another student in charge as usual.
Minutes passed, and I took a deep breath, preparing for Soyeon to go off on me again once Lisa began her stupid little games. Not only was she kicking harder than before, but this time, she poked my back with something sharp. Earrning a reasonably loud yelp from me.
My face became hot as most of the class turned to give me dirty looks.
Oh boy... this time someone seemed really pissed off.
With angered eyes, Soyeon came racing toward me like a raging bull. I could almost see air huffing out of her nose, must've been dressed in all red in her eyes.
She quickly slammed her book shut and stood up, maneuvering past all the desks between us, even knocking into some of them and throwing papers onto the floor. "You little brat, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you? Didn't I tell you to be quiet?" Words left her mouth in a hurry and she was unknowingly rambling. Once she was close enough to me, she lifted her hand slightly behind her head.. preparing to give me probably the hardest slap I've ever gotten in a lifetime.
All I could could do was shut my eyes and attempt to cover my head. I listened as gasps fill the room and I opened my eyes quickly once more, to catch a glimpse of her right before the hit.
I remained completely still... not peeking or moving to put myself at risk of being hit even harder.
But nothing happened.
No harsh impact, no pain, no stinging red hand print on my face...
Nothing.
"Wow. She's so cool." I heard one of the male students murmur. I slowly opened my eyes, assuming she calmed down or stopped because the teacher walked in.
To my surprise, there was Lisa. She was tightly holding onto Soyeon's wrist, leaning slightly over from behind me and looking dead into her eyes. I was a bit startled by the close proximity of my face and soyeon's hand, but what really shocked me was how scared she looked all of a sudden. Like her blood went from boiling, to frozen in a matter of seconds.
"A-what are you—" she stuttered.
"Go sit down."
Only three words and she yanked her arm away, eyes wider than before. She looked terrified, yet she just clenched her jaw and remained in her position. Pretty brave move to be honest.
"Lisa, can't you hear? You're sitting near her! This bitch and her stupid ch—" She began to flail her arms around and Lisa heaved a loud sigh. "Acting like a child and throwing a tantrum because of a noise is more annoying than a squeaky chair." She snapped. Her words were quick and sharp, and although they weren't all that hurtful, just her tone of voice made everything she said seem like a threat.
Other students oooh'd and aaah'd at the drama unfolding in front of them. And I hated I was practically the center of everything.
It was clear soyeon hesitated stepping back and going back to her seat. So with quick speed, Lisa twisted her wrist in what looked to be an extremely painful position, and it didn't even seem like she was struggling. Almost like holding a girl to the brink of breaking her wrist wasn't that big of a deal. "It's a chair. Stop overreacting, and go sit." You could see the horror in some of the students eyes, others looking fascinated, Jennie smirking at the sight of entertainment as always.
Loud wails of pain could be clearly heard throughout the classroom, I was afraid the teacher would hear it all the way from the bathroom. Most of the students sleeping even perked up their heads. Soon she quickly gave in. "I'm sorry! I'll-I'll sit down now... just.. please let me go..." tears were beginning to form in her eyes. Lisa reluctantly let go at the sight of the teacher entering the room. I felt embarrassed for Soyeon. I wouldn't dare to show my face at the school after something like that, but Soyeon always acted as if nothing happened whenever something humiliating happened.
"Hey, you guys should be copying notes.. not fooling around. Back to your seats. Now." She ordered.
And with a relaxed Lisa leaning back in her chair and a teary-eyed soyeon rubbing the dark red mark around her wrist, class resumed as normal. Except for the fact that...
Lalisa Manoban just saved me.
The entire time we had left in class... I've been afraid to turn around and say thank you, more-so scared she might want something in return.
I still felt a little shocked from the incident, but every time I would replay it in my head, the cooler the whole thing was.
I just had to think of someway to repay her before she comes up with one herself.
