As I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling, my alarm goes off.
"Oh great, another day of torture," I thought to myself as I put on my uniform. To say that being quirkless sucked massive balls would be an understatement of the century. With 80% of the world blessed with amazing powers, I can't help but look on in envy. But at least I'm not alone, my best friend Izuku is quirkless too but, if you ask me, his dream of being a super hero is nothing but a pipe dream, not that I'd ever say that to his face.
Walking down the stairs mom greets me with freshly made gohan and pickled plum.

"Good morning, (y/n), did you sleep well?"
"Terrible, I woke up three hours before my alarm and couldn't go back to sleep."
"You should try not to stay up so late then." She said as she poured me some green tea.
"I'm fine mom, you don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself."
"(Y/n), I'm your mother. It's my job to worry about you, especially if people are giving you a shit for being quirkless."

I sigh deeply. "I know."

"It's just- I can't help but feel guilty that you're powerless. I feel like I failed as a mother that you didn't inherit my quirk."

"I know but I'm fine, mom, really. All those Aikido classes weren't a waste you know."

"I know, I know. Just be careful ok, I have a terrible feeling something is going to happen to you."

I rise out of my seat, grab my bag and put on my shoes. I give her a convincing smile as I open the door.

"Quit worrying, everything's gonna be ok. I gotta go, love you."

And with that I rush toward the moment that will change my life forever.
