Before he could even finish his sentence, an ear-piercing screech echoed through the halls as one of the infected lunged at then. He was barely able to move himself and Alex out of the way. He cocked a pullet into the chamber and began shooting them.

Alex was frozen stiff. Scared. Utterly terrified. She couldn't get to her gun. Her hand refused to move.

Jacksons ammo was running out and fast. He tossed the gun aside and grabbed his shotgun. Chunks of flesh and blood sprayed from the Zed that nearly got to them.

“God damnit Alex! Pull it together or we are both dead!” Jackson exclaimed and turned, shooting one that almost got her.

Her ears rang. She noticed Jackson yelling at Her, those things closing in fast behind him. She snapped out of it, grabbing her gun and started shooting them.

They made their advance, moving forward as they cleared out the Zeds. There was too many. Jackson looked behind him. The Lab door was open. He knew what to do.

Jackson grabbed Her arm and roughly shoved her into the Lab. He made the door close with a bang and shot the lock. No getting in or out. More seemed to be on their way. He checked his guns ammo. 15 shots left.

He cracked his neck and took off the jacket he wore. “Sarah. How many?” He asked, preparing for what seemed to be the inevitable.

“Three hundred and forty. And counting.” The AI replied. “Why are you doing this?” She asked. “Why are you sacrificing yourself?”

Jackson let out a chuckle and cocked his gun. “Redemption I guess.” He replied. “I don't want to be remember as a killer who died in a virus outbreak. I want to save someone. Anyone. I hate the things I've done. The crimes i committed. But if i can finish this mission… Save someone…. Id die right here to do so.”

He could hear Alex banging on the door, crying. Begging for him to reconsider. He shook his head.

“No, Alex.” He said through her comms. “Make the antidote. If not, blow up the Ship. Destroy this virus before it spreads to the planets. Im counting on you,” He told her and shut his comms off.

He could see them down the hall. He looked down at his gun and at the grenade he stole from her. 20 meters.

He shook his head. No way was he going to die tonight, He smirked, taking the pin out of the grenade. “Come on.” He murmured. “Just a little closer.”

10 meters.

“COME ON THEN! FRESH FREAKING MEAT! YA WANNA BITE YA BLOODY BASTARDS?!” He yelled out to them tauntingly

5 meters

He pulled the pin and launched the grenade. It landed right in the middle of them. He aimed down the barrel of his shotgun. “3. 2. 1” He counted down. It exploded, sending chunks of guts and flesh and blood everywhere.

“How many” He asked.

“Two hundred.” Sarah replied.

Jackson smirked. “Perfect.” He said.

Jackson started shooting those who were still coming at him. 14. 13. 12. He grit his teeth. He dove out of the way of one trying to tackle him. He noticed an open door next to the Lab. A way out! He tried to make his way towards the door but got tackled to the ground. He could feel it crawl its way up his body. Thoughts ran through his mind. He didn't want to die. He didn't want to go out like this.
