Morgan's POV

We finally make it home and we hop out of the van. My father is clearly pissed off, so I decided to keep quiet during the ride home. He slams the door when we get inside. We sit down at the dinner table, where mom is waiting for us. It's only a matter of time before he starts to rant to mom about the "filthy mutants." I just sit silently and pick at my food.
"And then that little bastard knocked Jonathan out! These mutants are getting stronger and it's becoming a serious issue!" he yelled.
"Then there was this absolutely hideous brat with wings that full on attacked me! I swear to god, if I was ready, I could have had her!" He continued.
Your just upset you got your ass kicked by a teenage girl,

I thought. I couldn't help but smirk. I quickly hid it with a napkin, acting like I was wiping my face.
" Morgan, your coming with me tomorrow. I need to show you what it's like to he a true hunter. The future of mankind is on your generation's shoulders." He said to me, trying to calm down.
"Dad, I told you already, I don't want to be a hunter." I argued.
" Listen here, you. Being a hunter is the biggest favor you can do for mankind."
"What about the mutants? Were no really doing much of a favor to them, are we?"
My father grows red in the face with anger. He raises up his hand and slaps me across the face. Hard. I don't react, I just walk into my room and shut the door quietly.
                                  ***
I look in the mirror. There's a red hand print on my cheek. My face stings. God, I'm so stupid. I should know better. I guess I got a little more pissed than I should have when he mentioned the girl with the wings. She was so beautiful. It breaks my heart that my father wants her dead or in the prison.
I lay in bed, thinking about her. Those bright green eyes. The snowy white wings. I hope she's safe.
