The Bus Ride

The wheels of the white minivan rolled out of the driveway. Newt glanced over at his hand, intertwined with Tina's when suddenly, a loud cheer erupted from the back of the van.

"WOOHOO! We're going camping!!" Theseus cheered.

"Yay!" Queenie cheered as well.

Leta was driving, Theseus was sitting at the back of the small van, while Queenie and Tina were sitting behind Newt and Jacob. It was about a two-hour drive to the small campsite that Queenie, Jacob, Tina, Newt, Leta and Theseus decided to go to for Tina's birthday.

"Hey Newt?" Tina asked.

"Mm?"

"Have you ever been camping?" She continued.

"Uh, maybe once when I was a kid, but mum never really wanted to leave the hippogriffs alone for too long, you see. Have you been camping?" he asked.

"Uh, I haven't been camping... Queenie and I haven't really travelled much, but I'm super excited, especially because we're celebrating my birthday!" Tina spoke.

They then all lapsed into conversation, and somewhere along the road of Jacob's intense lessons on how he bakes his pastry just right, Newt had drifted into a light slumber, his head resting on Tina's shoulder.

Just as they were crossing a wooden bridge and heading into a lush forest, Queenie tentatively raised the subject that she had been trying to milk out of Tina for weeks.

"Hey Teen? So what's the deal with you and Newt?" She giggled and tried to read her mind.

"Uhmmm... me and Newt?" She stumbled, scrambling to throw up her Occlumency shields, but it was too late.

"Oh, come on Teenie, it's pretty obvious, I mean... look at you!" Queenie pressed.

"Yeah...I mean... um- we may or may not be together- um...heHe..."

"I knew it! I KNEW IT!" Queenie cheered, waking Newt up from his nap.

"Huh? What does she know?"

"Um... that we're togeth... nothing."

"Oh... no, its okay that she knows," his face reddening.

Tina's face then went a very unpleasant shade of red as she looked over at Queenie and Jacob. They were whispering away to Theseus, who stated whooping and chanting,

"NEWTINA! NEWTINA!" As Queenie, Jacob and Leta sniggered hysterically.

It was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to Newt and Tina. They both blushed as red as a beetroot, and Tina buried her face in Newt's lap.

"Tina I love youuuu! Tina I doooooo! When we're apart my heart beats only for youuuuu!" Theseus sung loudly in Newt's ear, and he had a look on his face that suggested he wanted to pitch himself out the window of the bus.

"Queenie! Quit it!" Tina hissed at her sister before they both burst into fits of giggles, Tina's more nervous and humiliated-sounding than Queenie's.

"Oh, when is it ever going to end!" Newt said, exasperated.

'NEVER!" Everyone else bar him and Tina screamed.

After an uncomfortably long amount of teasing and Theseus' singing, the six of them arrived at the campsite. It was a small campsite, surrounded by mossy green pine trees, and had a ring of snow-capped mountains surrounding the area. The best part in Tina's opinion though, were the massive outdoor pools and spas, all within walking distance from where they were staying.

The minivan slowed, and Theseus pulled his wand out of his pocket, sending a shot of rainbow confetti out of it.

"Yay! We made it!" he said.

Everyone cheered and jumped out of the van, Queenie struggling to carry her large duffel bag. Tina inhaled a breath of fresh air.

"It's so good to be standing!" she said, stretching her arms.

"Mmm," Newt nodded in response.

The other four jumped out after them and Tina said,

"Bring it on Holiday!"
