Orienteering

"Guys, Leta just checked her phone and found out that the forest that we're going orienteering in shut an hour ago, so, we'll just have to go tomorrow," Queenie said, poking her head into Newt and Tina's cabin.

"Oh...okay..." Tina said.

"And Teen? You and Newt better hurry up, all we can hear is you guys bickering about beds and you've been unpacking for like... half an hour!" She grinned.

Tina rolled her eyes and continued to unpack her things.

In the end, Newt had given in and let Tina have the better bed because he 'couldn't argue with the birthday girl,' so he had reluctantly groaned and lowered himself onto the thin, cold mattress and curled up underneath the fraying, moldy duvet. Despite sleeping really close to the ground, he had slept relatively well, unlike Tina, as Newt had kept joking that he was going to jump onto her bed halfway through the night, and she had spent most of the night expecting to wake up to Newt jumping on her. But of course, that never happened.

Tina and Newt's eyes flew open to the aggravating sound of pots and pans. They knew it was Queenie right away.

"Guys! WAKE UP!" she hollered, banging a pot and pan from the campground kitchen together, making an awful clashing sound rivet through their ears.

Tina sighed and buried her face in her pillow. Did they really have to wake up this early?!

"Its... too... early," Newt mumbled into his bed sheet beside her. She turned around to see a mop of red hair laying in a tangled mess of pillows and duvets. She chuckled to herself and stood up, stifling a yawn.

Making her way over to the bathroom, she closed the door and pulled on a pair of athletic leggings and a grey knot shirt. She had spent a while splashing her puffy eyed face with cold water and face scrub to try and wake herself up before she heard footsteps coming towards the doorway.

It was Newt, wearing a pair of frayed jeans and a black over sized sweater that he looked very nice in. A slight red color tinted his cheeks as he mumbled a 'good morning' to Tina and checked his reflection in the mirror.

After Tina had put her hair up into a low ponytail, they both walked together to the kitchens.

"Sooo, how was sleeping in that bed?" Tina elbowed him playfully.

"Um... It was actually okay..." He mused.

Tina chuckled and opened the door to the campground kitchen. It was a small, desolate room with a few tables spread across the white floor. On the left side of the room was a number of cupboards, all squeaking and half-open. Next to the cupboards there was a fridge, and an old, battered oven.

Tina walked over to the first cupboard door, and grabbed out a couple of bowls for her and Newt. She then poured them both a bowl of cereal and was just about to sit down when the others came into the kitchen. Queenie looked very happy with herself, as she was the one who had managed to get them up so early.

"Gee, Queenie. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole campground heard you!" Theseus said.

"I know," Queenie grinned.

Before long they had all finished their breakfast and were heading down the road to the forest. It was only about a 5 minute walk before they had arrived and found their instructor waiting for them.
